In the credits for all of the DKC games, D. Wise is listed as the composer. A first name is never listed; just an initial.

His full name is David Wise. He is, in my opinion, one of the greatest videogame composers of all time. The soundtrack for DKC2, in particular, is possibly his greatest work, in my opinion.
He has a page here on IMDB, but it's dreadfully incomplete; it only lists 3 out of the many soundtracks he's worked on.
Wise is a genius. Enchanted Woods and Stickerbrush Symphony are particularly impressive =)
