Unecessary explicit sex scenes

Sex scenes add **nothing** to the story and get a nonsense R rating to the movie.

Also, the "society of the future" is inconcistent with, for instance, today's diesel cars with technology from the next century...

Finally, the ID system in this whole society is totally lame: it's an electronic badge that you wear very visibily around your next, with no biometrics, and which you can steal or exchange, which is totally nosense with Xchange technology going around.

LOL, I've just been watching a bit of this, since it was on TV and we recorded it. I remember seeing it before and thinking the sex scenes seemed hilariously out of place! It was on while I was eating my dinner and I'm no prude but it was the last thing I really wanted to see while I was eating my tuna jacket potato...

As a counterweight for all the ridiculous bedsheets stuck in a completely unnatural way between breasts and arms in 99 percent of hollywood flics, i'd say it's a good thing to have a little nudity here. Go watch the Disney channel. you prolly think that, as long i don't tell my kids about sex, they won't have it, and than end up a 30 year old granny

:P :D

Remember, you're unique. Just like everyone else.

WEll I can see which 23 minutes were cut from this movie when it aired on sci-fi, there was no sex scenes in full in it!

Then one of the best quotes in the movie was lost, when the Xchange CEO talks about Oedipus and asks to see a Scott's family photo. I won't quote, watch it :P

I am thoroughly shocked that absolutely no one on these boards noticed that the woman in the sex scenes had breasts like little boys. I mean, I there were 3 completely nude people. The only one that looked like a woman was the last one, (whom Baldwin did not want to have sex with). But the first two ones had absolutely no breasts. I never saw such a thing in a ll my life. I kept looking at the screen going. Why don't these girls have breasts??? No one else noticed this???

reply

That's Canadians for you !

Strange as it may seem, not every woman had large breasts - in fact, many of those large breasts are not natural.

reply

Excuse us for liking natural women.

I assume we're talkin' bout the lady in the robe who told the other woman to wait on the couch and then pulled Baldwin in the bedroom? OH, YEAH, SHE WAS HOTT!!!

reply

Give the girl a break! Not every woman has huge breasts. I have to say that while I thought the sex scene wasn't really necessary to the film, I also thought Amy Sloan really sizzled as the totally uninhibited Gloria (in somebody else's body) in the scene with MacLachland.

I disagree that the sex scenes added nothing to the story. They were in reflective of both the setting and the characters involved.

The first scene reflected the Toffler's exploration of the subculture that he had been pushed into, and Glowacki's impish, fetishistic thrill at having sex in someone else's body.

The sex scene between the two corporate execs was rough, degrading and sado-masochistic, to reflect the way that they live their lives.

And the scene between Maddie and Toffler in the Jeff body was two lovers getting re-involved.

As far as the cars: considering that this movie was made in 2000 (check the skyline for the World Trade Centre), they had no idea that *beep* would hit the fan this fast as far as oil prices go. Re-invading Iraq seemed like the kind of thing only a fool would attempt (funny that).

And the Badges do have biometrics, as far as the voiceprints (the scene where the police uniforms at the apartment?).

Technology changes, but not evenly.

And the sex scenes were great.

hm I also thought the 2 execs sex scene was like a power struggle, first she takes control over him, even when he started to take her from behind, the only reason why he did so was because she told him to. You can tell she's the bigger power by the end :)

reply

"...scene was like a power struggle..."

That could describe several movies, including THE SEDUCTION starring Morgan Fairchild. In that movie, she had a stalker/peeper guy 'bothering' her. The guy had hidden in her closet to watch her, and got discovered... and let the struggle begin. (It has been a loooong time since I saw that movie, so I'm short on details. Sorry.)

And for some of the other commenters, if fake breasts annoy you, don't bother watching that movie...

It was like watching the Pope have sex with a corpse.

Many go fishing all their lives without knowing it is not fish they are after.

reply

I agree with Jackdorf, second it is kind of refreshing to see a woman without silicone.

reply

Whoever doesn't like the sex scenes that's your problem, so don't watch.
I wonder are you the same ones who bitched about Broadwalk Empire?
I recall when R meant full frontal, when we don't see much any more.
