Well, I think Either Pixar or 20th Century Fox, or Dreamworks should do it. And Fox should be voiced by Matt Damon, and Falco voice by either Ben Affleck or Ryan Reynolds. and I have a lot more voice cast ideas:

Peppy- Billy Bob Thorton
Slippy- Sean Astin, or mabye someone from one of the games.
Krystal- Keira Knightly
Wolf- Hugh Jackman, or mabye Vin Diesel (just depends on what his character is like)
Andross- Ted Levine
General Pepper- R. Lee Ermey
Bill- Ashton Kutcher
Katt- (Doesn't really matter)
Pigma- Joe Pesci
Leon- Peirce Brosnan
Andrew- Matt Stone

Did I forget anyone?

Oh btw, My idea for turning Starfox into a movie has now become a screenplay. I have shown it to people at Starfox message boards and to many of my friends, and they think it's a worthy adaptation... if only I could find a way to show it to nintendo

Revenge is not a valid move it's an emotional response, no not vengenge...Punishment.

Stone? Tarantino? Don't make me laugh. Nothing amuses me more than a bunch of fan-casted movie wet dreams.

As for turning it into a movie, Nintendo is already planning making their own movies of a few different series that they have. Whether they'll be released in theaters remains to be seen.

Either way, you don't need to put in a large number of planets/systems/sectors/whatever to make it a good movie. In fact, you should be trying to tell a story, not build a story around the battles. If you want to see what happens when you do that, rent the Wing Commander movie. Plot first, battles second.

It's Starfox goddammit. It's supposed to be for kids, too.(Or rather mainly aimed at kids, though it is of course very enjoyable for people at every age, otherwise I wouldn't be playing it)
I can only suppose that dark movie idea was a joke. It's like trying to make Super Mario a dark character. You can do that *beep* with Samus, since Metroid is dark and everything, but Starfox had to be coo and funny.
Anyway, why is it that on every board about games there is some bloody topic that says 'Should they make a movie?'
Why do you always want movies when most VG movies suck and it's actually more fun to play the games anyway?
I'm tired of seeing all these movie threads popping up for every game at least twice. Not counting the 'What cast should the movie have?'-threads.
Wouldn't surprise me if someone already suggested a Pac-Man movie and listed a cast for it,too.

Uh, the rights to Pac-Man were bought a while ago. If you'd like to see the pre-production poster, go here and scroll down to the end of the page.

I could see it being made, but I'm not sure if I could see it being a mature show (like something that would be shown on Adult Swim). I'd probably watch it if they made one.

wow I havent been here in so long, and I totally forgot that I even posted this topic, until I just got done posting another one a few mins ago, lol. I agree that pixar or dreamworks would be the best for the animation, and I do agree tenfold; about basing the movie around storline and character development insted of only action and explosions. I know just the way to make a movie now. Too bad I may never be in the position to direct and or write the script for the movie.

Can You Hear me I don't want this anymore I wanna call it off!!!

I had forgotten about this thread until you sent me a PM about it. I wish I knew what half of the posts were; they've been deleted at this point.

Eh, I don't know about never getting a crack at it. You've got two routes to take: go to film school, or just do what Tarantino did and essentially watch every film ever made, learn how the directors did what they did on your own time, and then start making your own little films. Perhaps after working on some projects, you might be able to get a crack at it - or hell, work on even bigger and (possibly) better projects.

As for getting a chance with making a Starfox movie, you could do what Christophe Gans and Robert Rodriguez did. Gans made a short film interview expressing how much he wanted to make a Silent Hill movie and his vision for what it would be like and sent it off to Konami. Rodriguez wanted to make a movie out of Sin City, but to show that he was serious, he made a short film based on one of the stories and then sent it off to Frank Miller saying "If you like it, then let's make a movie together. If you don't, then you have something to show to your friends."

if they make a movie, I wonder how many will call it a sad star wars rip-off

reply

You know what, Ever since I first started thinking about SF as a movie, the first thing that came to my mind was "How could it be done without seeming like a star wars rip off?" That's why I have thought of many ways to make it original. but it would take a while to explain.

Another thing is, pretty much what we already have from nintendo as far as storyline goes is: Starfox is the team of rag-tag mercenaries led by james mccloud who for some reason are trusted by the Cornerian government and are the saviors of their planet. James allegedly gets killed while on a mission in venom after pigma betrays yada yada... Years later Fox, james's son obviously follows his father's footsteps, and becomes the new hero... cliche cliche.

Ok... now, there is not a whole lotta emphasis on the character structure or whatever as you can see. Nintendo pretty much left it open for unlimited fanfiction posibilities.

I think a movie should pretty much follow the basic storyline but it should mostly show how Fox becomes such a great pilot and how he becomes the leader of the ne SF team. It must be VERY dramatic, and intense, AND of course have lots of comic releife, but still maintaining a serious storyline. whattya'll think?

There's 2 genres you can pump out of Starfox. StarFox SNES version has a solid "Top Gun" buddy-buddy action movie feel. While StarFox64 is all out space-opera. 2 completely different things. I think we can make a space opera as part 1, then the sequel can be a more mainstream Top Gun-like action movie.

I was thinking that we INCORPORATE StarFox with StarWars, like make references to them to imply that we exist in the same universe but that they're very VERY distant. So we don't know crap about the "force" and Vader or anything. Because there's no escaping the StarWars shadow, so why not have it feel like a derivative.

I agree that it should revolve around Fox and his journey to becoming head of the team. I think we can have scenes where Fox gets flashbacks of when he was little and his dad would leave him with Peppy to go fighting. There should be some kind of interconnecting scenario where Fox is strategically introduced to Slippy for a pivotal reason. Like he was in danger and Slippy saved him in the nick of time or some crap. Basically Slippy showing an attribute of a "protector" when he was younger. This is important because we plan on making him hella annoying in his later years. This is all in the flashbacks.

In present time Fox should be part of the team--his father, Peppy, and Pigma Dengar. Fox must be treasured by his father and be a bit of a brat, which makes it all the worse when James dies. He needs to have done something bad too. No, not indirectly kill his father, something while his father was still alive that he would gravely disapprove off if he knew. Later in the story he eventually meets Falco and they develop that animosity. By this time James Mccloud is dead. Pigma should be made a very likable person, so that it is quiet shocking when he screws over Peppy and reveals that he killed James. By this time Falco realizes what a friend he has in Fox after something they did earlier, and he comes to screw over up Pigma's plans by pretending to be with him. Slippy of coarse has to be the helpful nerd who makes himself useful in the nick of time, reminding Fox of when Slippy was there at the right time when they were little.

Andross should almost never be seen but only talked about. The real villain here I was thinking should be a space virus, it has to be unpredictable and immortal. Something that turns Slippy against the team and basically obstructs their journey to defeat Andross, leaving him alive at the end for the sequel.

The movie needs to be visually f-cking beautiful! What makes StarFox64 so great is its cinematic quality, every shot is just amazing. Same sh!t needs to be done here, no exceptions, every single shot!

The movie can't be too dramatic, there's no need. It basically has to be The Lion King. In the sense that wayward brat slowly gets fashioned and equipped for leadership. At the end, either corrupted-Slippy or Andross has to do something that triggers Fox into being a true hero. Something has to keep the movie going though, WHILE there are emotional moments. I don't think the movie should STOP to do that, like Lion King did.

very interesting Idea you have there awesomedood. it sounds like it would make a worthy adaptation. Now my Idea is a little different, but the similarities between mine and yours would be flashbacks with fox and his father, little father son moments, and somehow meeting falco along the way, as well as the movie being visually beautiful, well, of course.

Now my vision of SF movie would begin with The original SF team, (james, peppy, pigma) doing a mission of some sort, you know, for a little first minute action to tide violence-lovers over for the drama that will come next in the movie.

Now; one thing I thought of was "what exactly is the starfox team? like what EXACTLY are they?" Well, we know they are a team of mercs... now in any decently run universe, the law does not nesscisarrily like mercenaries do they? Why not make it to where The Starfox team is loved, respected and idoled by many, mostly Cornerian civilians, but resented for the most part by much of the Cornerian Government. BUT; General pepper of course, is friends with them, and he recognizes their potential. Thus, he gains them missions and whatnot because when it comes to piloting he trusts them more than anyone.

Now, the chancellor, or president, or whoever is the elected leader of Planet corneria (I assume that Corneria is a democracy?) doesnt particularly like the SF team, they have "Gotten in the way" many times, but He realizes that they have done good for the planet, and their image makes money because of their almost Celebrity status (which James and Peppy really dislike) So the SF team is good for the cornerian economy.... I sense I went to far with that, back to the main story.

Ok; the team is introduced, we have a first five minutes or movie action scene, with them chasing after a wanted criminal or something. after that's over; we have a little cute scene with James, Fox, and Fox's mother (I think that Fox should have a mother, who ends up getting killed later in the story when andross comes to wreck everything.) Fox and Mom want James to finally come home and retire from his dangerous duty because they belive he accomplished all he can. And he promises them "Just one more mission, then I'm done" blady blah... sappy drama for a few more mins, and then next scene brings us to a massive air hangar. This is where the Great fox is. A little scene of character development and dialogue between Peppy, pigma and James. Then the general comes out, and steals the scene, then their's the mission breifing and then of course the mission where they head to Venom to investigate the strange activity. they arrive to find a big surprise. and well we know what happens after that.

Lets skip ahead a few years. The SF team is long gone, peppy is filled with dispair and disgrace, blaming himself for Pigma's Betrayal and James' death, and Drinks heavily. Even though it's not his fault, but you know how some characters are in these types of stories. Peppy lives by himself in a nice house that's located in the middle of a junkyard, where the Great fox is depoted, collecting dust. best friends Fox, Slippy and Bill have finished Highschool, and have been accepted to the Cornerian flight acadamy. Like a University for Aviation. (Best in Lylat lol) Fox has taken over the responsibility of being the man, taking care of his mother, and all that jazz. His life has been very stressful and lonly since his father's passing, but he made the best of it and came out strong. He goes to visit Peppy regularly, who has been the only thing close to a father fox has had since his own died. But they regularly get into saddening arguments regaurding james's Death, as well as other things.

Whew... too much. I'll continue later. Gettin intresting aint it? I did leave out many details though.

I would like it if Don Bluth directed the movie, it would be a great come back.

im really lovin ur ideas awesomedood. Now how to incorporate Fara Phoenix and Wolf into the mix...
For those who are unfamiliar, Fara was a character that was in the nintendo power monthly comics that came out at the same time the first SF game for SNES did. But she was never included in the games for some reason. She's a vixen, who is also a skilled pilot and no doubt would eventually serve as a love interest to fox. It's cliche, but every hero's gotta have one right?

Awesome! wats up man? Anyways... lets see... well Your idea is amazing. It would be so cool if we could somehow make very well written descriptive script combining both our ideas and somehow get nintendo to look at it. haha pipe dream.

Now, your idea for Andross not being the main villian at first and the whole space virus thing i think is both an excellent idea but at the same time not completely sure bout it lets see where it goes from here!

I admire your enthusiasm for writing a script. I was a huge fan of the game way back when it came out in 1997.

I'm working in Hollywood trying to make my break, currently shipping around scripts i've written. It's actually been an ambition of mine to write and shoot a short film using the puppet designs from the old Star Fox promos from the early '90s. Need to ask Nintendo for permission though before I pursuit it further.

Not sure if you're still trying to write this script but I wish you the best of luck.

Stuff like this reminds me of "Movie Poop Shoot.com" from Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.
