The invisibility cloak

Anyone knows how James Potter got it?

reply

It was a family heirloom, passed down through the generations through the Potter line (and whatever it was before that), starting with Ignotus Peverell.

Thank you! I suppose the info is in the books - I can't see it in the films.

It wasn't completely spelled out in the books either, but Harry did guess correctly that his invisibility cloak was the one in the legend as Ron mentioned it was very unusual in that the cloak worked perfectly despite how old Harry and Ron knew it was at the least (they knew Harry's father owned it before Harry was born).

How big was it exactly as when Harry was first given it and puts it on it seems pretty snug fit that just covers him but later on it covers Harry, Ron and Hermione?

reply

That is called the work of... sorcery. :) I used to wonder about that myself. In one of the books I’m sure Harry even put it in his pocket.

It might have to do with the material it is made of, but I’d like to think the cloak could become as big or small as it wanted.

reply

I’ve wondered that too. My guess was it would magically grow to cover and protect those who need it. If you put it on it automatically adjusts to your size. If more than one needs covering and protection it expands. That’s just a guess or how I picture it.

reply

but after Ron's growth spurt the cloak barley covers them

reply

Then I'm wrong. I've only some of the movies once.

reply

In the books, it was stated that they had outgrown it by the Deathly Hallows and could only use it one or two at a time.
