If they ever release it, it may not be the same...when DCA first opened, Golden Dreams had a different version of the film. The part where the chinese railroad workers were blasting the sides of the mountain to make way for the railroad was different. It clearly showed the older man and young boy stuck trying to light their fuse and just as they lit it and started to pull up the dynamite exploaded and you saw the start of their basket fall as it was engulfed in debris & smoke.

Understandably, Disney felt this was too extreme for the park...it may frighten very young viewers so the scene was edited to imply they were killed but not show it in such a graphic way...not that it was THAT graphic, but you get the idea. Now it just shows a slow-motion shot of their faces and then fades to the next scene.

This movie is a really good (entertaining) account of (a few pieces of) California history.

Some complain about Whoopie Goldberg playing "Califia" referring to her parts in the movie as "stupid", but if the whole movie was only about the history, some of the younger children may lose interest...whenever I see the movie, when Woopie appears the kids take notice and point her out.

At Disney, it's all abount appealing to ALL audiences.
