"Hey, this is a private residence, man!"

The first film ever made is Roundhay Garden Scene from 1888.

The Garden Scene was a film made with painted cells not photographic ones. There were three test films made at Edison's lab by his assistant Dickson called Monkeyshines (1-3), these were for testing. It showed Dickson or another person standing and sitting and waving his arms and legs around to test and show the movement. "Greeting" is pretty much a test as well but it was also shown to the public to get them interested in watching movies later within a year. You can find all of this out at

Interesting stuff!

"Painted cells"? What do you mean? Louis Le Prince's films were photographic, made on paper film rolls most likely--as were the Monkeyshines experiments by Dickson.

To the original topic, it's futile to make claims for such things as the first film. It's even worse to use IMDb as the main source for such an investigation. (As much as I love this site, it's a far cry from being authoritative on the first films and the origins of movies.)

In regards to films made by the Edison Company, then, yes, "Dickson Greeting" is the fourth known and surviving subject, after the Monkeyshines, according to research by Charles Musser and others.
