I'm a hard core Monkees fan. This movie sure had it's faults, but overall I enjoyed it.
As I said in another post, I'd like to see the Monkees bio done on a large scale with a Hollywood budget. It'll never happen, but I have all the episodes & Head to fall back on.
Speaking of budget (in this case, nearly non-existent) it would've cost them nothing to have lit the scenes from the show in a similar manner as the originals. They, along with the rest of this movie, have the cheap sharply lit look of an after school special.
I won't mention the horrible acting, hackneyed script, misdirected direction, miserable editing, or the fact that the Olds Starfire convertible that Nesmith "owned" was quite an expensive model and it's doubtful that a struggling musician could've afforded it (unless his mother bought it for him but that would be a stretch). No, I absolutely refuse to bring up those topics.
FYI, tip for Canadian location scouts, there are precious few brick buildings out west, not sure why this is but the facts bear this out.

Good point. When I lived in Southern California I liked avoiding the few brick buildings/structures that there were because of earthquakes. News reports about earthquake damage and deaths often involved brick structures.
