The best thing about this movie

When I saw this years ago when it first aired, the best thing that came out of it was it got me even more interested in the boys. I had no idea Mike fought for more control and he cared so much about the music. And I had no idea they were so unhappy with their image. This movie informed me on a few things. Was it 100% accurate? Not at all. There were small details they could've even got right.

Mickey didn't have curly hair his whole career and he had straight hair when they did Headquarters. I have the album, so I noticed this right away. I also noticed when they were performing the Daydream Believer scene, they were wearing white suits. That's not how I remember them being dressed. They were in regular clothes and Davey's hair wasn't always that long. It was good though to hear that song and other great songs of theirs that I loved. They should've went into more detail with Headquarters. Mike wrote most of the songs on that album. He wrote the best ones, in my opinion. I wish the movie had featured You Just May Be the One and The Girl That I Knew Somewhere.

I, like many other Monkees fans, was picky with the movie. Especially, the casting. I didn't like any of the actors they got. They were all so terrible, I don't know who I'd pick as the worst.

I thought historical details were pretty good; it was the image/costumes that were off and annoying. The white outfits they wore for 'Daydream Believer' were the ones they wore for the 'Star Collector' Video. And yes, Micky and Davy's hair styles were so completely different between their start and the end it was awkward. Mike and Peters stayed relatively the same enough that them not changing thru the movie didn't bother me as much. I mean, little nit picky details but they are fun to talk about.

I thought they all did a good job but if I were to pick the weakest links it was George Stanchev as Davy. I think everyone can admit that they will be the most critical of the actor who played their particular favorite Monkee. I didn't like Stanchev's very pronounced 'donut hole' chin; it was very John Travolta and though he is very handsome, he just wasn't Davy. The accent I think was really rough as well. It wasn't smooth like Davy's was. And musically, he didn't Fit Daydream Believer. Aaron (Micky) did such a great job with his voice, that when it came to him lip singing the songs, he matched. George's voice just didn't match to me. Add to that the really bad wig not changing, he just didn't work for me. I did like his ending scene in the hospital.

That was a really bad rant or George, I am so sorry, lol. Again, everyone is going to be super critical of their own favorite Monkee. A non fan just looking to watch the bio may not notice any of that stuff. He wasn't horrible I just wouldn't pick him as my favorite.
