Do U prefer Trigger Or Cross?

I Know many people have posted their preferences all over the net. But I was suprsied I did not see it here. (I just probably missed it :P) So I thought I would raise the question:

Which game do you prefer? Chrono Trigger OR Chrono Cross?

Now ofcourse you can choose to say you prefer something like Chrono Trigger PSX version or say you prefer Radical Dreamers (Which is kinda like a SNES Choose your own adventure Book introducing the Chrono Cross Charicatars. For those who dont know.)

As for how I feel: I think Chrono Trigger (SNES) is the best by far. The PSX version you may say is exactly the same, but I like original things and also I thought the intro video spoils alot for those who never played the SNES one. Radical Dreamers I only played it because I am such a big CT fan (face it, it was pretty crap (Not that it was meant to be a blockbuster game) As for chrono cross, it was pretty good but still nowhere as good as CT.

Sorry for blabbing too much (huge fan)
(And wow will I be a loser if no one replies....)

I Havent played Radical Dreamers, but I have played and completed Trigger & Cross, and must say I prefer Cross, Trigger is an SNES Classic, and always will be on my top ten list of games, but Cross comes out on top, the music, and FMv's are amazing, and Cross is longer then Trigger, including all the sidequests, I played Cross once, when I burrowed it from a friend (he was unfamiliar with the series and had never heard of Chrono Trigger) I had it for about 3 weeks, and I'd play from dawn till dusk everyday, by the end of the game, I knew that nothing else Squaresoft (now SquareEnix of course) would ever compare to it, and it holds true (to me) to this day, no other game has ever come close to it, I think its obvious which one I choose, I still don't understand why so many other fans of the series prefer Trigger over Cross, Trigger was great though.

CC >>>>>>>> CT >> SoM >> FF3/FF6

and thats the way it should be

Chrono Trigger by far. I just loved all the diverse worlds you go to and rescue them from destruction by Lavos. Mostly because I loved the cyberpunk-ish future world.

I prefer Trigger. It has the better storyline, and Cross just had too many characters; I like it when you have a small band of heroes who you intimately(sp) become acquainted with and learn all about them rather than a huge line-up in which you only care about three of them. However, Cross does have the superior music (Mitsuda at his finest!).

I've been talking with friends, and we came to came to a conclusion. People prefer the Chrono game that they played first. My friend Brandon got a Playstation before he got a SNES, so he played and beat Cross first. Trigger was the first game I ever played. And I agree with you, atcool; the PSX version stole a lot of the majesty away from the original. But, I liked earning the extra music; Singing Mountain and Battle 2 are rocking tracks!

Trigger for sure

Cross is a master piece but without the back up from Trigger it wouldnt even be that good.

I ahte people who think Cross is the best game ever and didnt even consider playing Trigger

Chrono Trigger is my second favorite game of all time after Final Fantasy VII. Truly a wonderous experience that can be enjoyed again and again. Chrono Cross was in some ways better than Chrono Trigger but in some ways worse. Overall I feel Trigger was better but both games can easily be considered masterpieces by those who enjoy the genre. The thing I feel made them truly a pleasure to play was the score. Yasunori Mitsuda wrote breathtaking music for both games (Cross being the better of the two IMHO). I have both soundtracks and am listening to Cross as I write this. The thing that I feel makes Trigger better is that after I finish it I always want to play it again. Not so with Chrono Cross. I've played through it twice and it was awesome both times but I just don't feel the draw to it that I have with Chrono Trigger. In any case, anyone who likes RPG's should play both of them.

I would say Chrono Trigger is my favorite. It's unique mix of gameplay, replay value, music, characters, plot, etc. make it simply one of the best games in the world, if not the best.

Chrono Cross is second. It has beautiful graphics (and FMVs) a tremendously complex plot that is mixed up pretty well with chrono trigger, and even though there're too many characters, the central ones have a great (if not superb) storyline. Even the game itself is catchy. But Chrono Trigger is better, for some reason.

As for Radical Dreamers... I Really liked it! obviously i prefer CT and CC before RD, but still this is a beautifull gem that has a great plot, good music, ambientation, and is a master piece to the Graphic adventure players like myself

Or to resume: CHRONO SAGA RULEZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kazan: This room is green.
Holloway: Yes it is.
Kazan: I wonna gonna back to the blue room...

that's pretty interesting. I'm the exact opposite. my fav game of all time is zelda: oot, but besides that it's Chrono Cross than FFVI. whereas you prefer the 3d ff than the 2d chrono, I prefer the 3d chrono than the 2d ff O_o

Chrono Trigger would be my 4th followed by FFVII. Trigger is a GREAT game, but I honestly felt like my life had been changed after playing Chrono Cross (weird?)

I like chrono trigger the best, but unlike common comments by people I gotta say cross is not only a worthy sequel but a fantastic games. Square always seems to strike gold with the chrono series.

Chrono Trigger IMO

trigger. i thought ct had a much better gameplay system, and some strong graphic art and music that really stood out. but i did like the story to cross better. it was more complex than ct because ct sort of read the story to you, while cc gave you the story to read.

Id say Chrono Trigger. Chrono Cross was a great game but Chrono trigger imo was better. Chrono Trigger had wonderfully detailed background stories for each character (especially Magus!). Unfortunately, characters had bsaically no background story in CC...I mean people would just randomly join you for no reason..this imo took away from the overall story element. Furthermore, Chrono Trigger tied everything up in its own game..(assuming that perhaps Schala was killed in the Ocean Palace collapse...but Chrono Cross finished off with plotholes..for instance what happend to the original cast? and what happend to Porre? and why did the Masamune go corrupt? Finally, and imo the most important problem of it all...where in the world did Magus go. I say they shouldve cut out 10 characters just so they could fill in a magus storyline.

ANd just to add, i didnt like the Time Devourer last boss very much...Lavos seemed much more sinister and way harder...time devourer was pathetic.

but CC is a great game, one of the best.

U can't deny the "Trigger"

reply

by itself...trigger is better...but playing and beating trigger makes the cross experiacne alot better....and makes the whole series phenomenal......ha

reply

Trigger of course because it had a much better story line but with cross i had a lot more fun like with the side quest and all.. I guess when it comes down to it you have to look at the storyline and by far trigger shines..

reply

CHRONO TRIGGER ( shall always be the best )

Cross is still an amazing game ( I haven`t beat it yet...I will )It`s a lot harder then trigger though.

And Radical Dreamers is the worst game I have ever played in my whole life

I had already played CT and some Zelda games for a while, and I'd say Zelda was my fave video game (Link to the Past, Ocarina and Majora's serie).
But then I played CT again, and decided it was WAY better then Zelda.
When I came into CC, wow, I couldn't think of anything else!!!!!!

I think CT's music is usually better, though the low quality of sound (only played SNES), and I love Glenn (Frog) and Janus (Magus)... but I found the hole story of CC deeper.
I think it should had less characters so we could get more intimate of them, and the second disc I found to be too short (I expected that to be as long as the first one), but... I just love it.

Once I found on the web all the sentences said in the game, but the guy didn't finish it... Though I do not have the time, I do wish to finish it up!
