ive read a few posts but the years still seem to baffle me. as does the opening scene with mrs park circling the years as though there is a pattern. am i being dumb because i cant see it? 1989-1993 (4 years difference) 1993-1996 (3 years difference) 1996-1998 (2 years difference) the only one i can see is that she returns to school sooner each time. help me out here people :)
shareI've just finished watching it but i think it goes like this.
In 89 she was in the last grade and died. She "re-enrolled" in 1990, and did her three years.
In 1993 she "re-enrolled" and did her three years.
At the beginning of the film it was a new year, so i think she had done two years and was entering her third, so she wouldn't have done all three years yet.
This though is based on the assumption that the school lasts for three years.

So, this person (Jin-Ju) has constantly been at that school for approximately 9 years, being taught by the same teachers and not one of them says to themselves - "hold on a minute - I gave you a B in Maths 6 years ago. Oh, AND you died horribly on the premises?"
Odd.
I haven't watched this film in a while, but i think she said something about hiding in classes that were full up so the teachers never bothered to learn who they were or something. She may have changed her hair or something, remember the teacher who used to be her best friend didn't recognize her.

She said that she simply filled the empty seats. Perhaps the years where she shows up are the only ones where an empty seat was available in class.
The reason no one recognizes her is due to the fact that her ghostly body is completely different from her human one. She does use the same ghost appearance when she fills the seats, but the teachers were so uninspired that they frequently did not notice. Also note, however, that one teacher (Old Fox) eventually did notice this, and was killed before exposing that secret.
