Three Colors Blue

Did anyone else see a lot of similarities between this film and Three Colors Blue?
Except this film was no where near as good?

i'm a big fan of the three colours trilogy and I think this was better. Flawless infact. Heartbreaking. Three colours red might be the only one to compare to this

Indeed, the films are very similar. Both films are quite excellent, but "Blue" is a classic, and overall a more interesting film. I think there is plenty of room for both films though, and each has something different to offer.

The idea of love interrupted by sudden death or disappearance is a well-worked cinematic theme(The Vanishing, or Truly, Madly, Deeply or Blue etc).

I just watched 'The Vanishing' last night... I can't say I found it as gripping as blue... Plus I felt it was more about a sociopath.

Another film about the inevitability of death and the indifference of the universe is The Sweet Hereafter. It's been a very long time since I have seen this film. I need to watch again, because I barely remember it.

Did you saw the original Dutch movie or the Hollywood remake? :p
Anyway, I agree with you... Besides the disappearance of the love interest, it's quite a different movie.
But I really liked the original "The Vanishing". ;)

They're similar, but Kieslowski's movie to me was about pure devastation to the point that it was painful to watch. There was no denial there, no misunderstanding, she was trying to live on when all hope was lost. This was about the more complex side of the grieving process, and the struggle to find acceptance.
