I totally agree a Silver Surfer flick would problaly be better than all the other Marvel Movies they have made thus far simply because most of it would take place in space, on other planets, and would involve a whole 'nother class of beings, ones that most of the beings on earth can't even begin to touch, so they better be doin one other wise they would be disappointing a very big and loyal group of Marvel fans and I would just love to see who they get to play Thanos or Galacticus!!!

I nominate Pratick Stewart for the role of Galactus, and Katie Holmes for the role of Nova ;-)
As for Thanos... how about Samuel L. Jackson?
It's the casting of the surfer himself that worries me, I mean we don't want another Tobey Maguire, I suppose if you are going for an all star cast, Keanu Reeves would be appropriate, as deadpan as he is.
A better question would be who could direct such a movie, without turning it into an over the top typical Hollywood blockbuster sci-fi?

maybe in the future oh say 2007 they can join fantastic four, spiderman etc in a movie together wouldnt that make the film industry skyrocket!

"You're going to start hearing a lot about Silver Surfer," he promises. "It'll be our next big project with Fox after 'Fantastic Four.

I say they do a CG movie, not photo-real like Final Fantasy but kinda like the X-Men Lagends 2 ads.

Samuel L. Jackson ended up playing the spoof/homage to the Silver Surfer in The Incredibles.

I thought that he was the spoof of iceman rather than silver surfer

I seriously hope they find someone good to play the Surfer. Seeing as how Norrin ahs been my favorite comic book for a good 15 years, It'd be a shame to see someone totally unintelligent play him. Vin Deisel is too big to play the Surfer. And he's not...well...very smart sounding. The Silver Surfer spoke intelligently and should be respected that way.

I'm sorry if I'm pessimistic, but I just can't picture it in my head yet folks. I can't see the Silver Surfer on the big screen. Not with out a ton of computer animations and CGI, so it would really be about voice then, and Norrin Radd's actor. I don't think there's anyone who can fill this position. If you've got a good example of who, I'd love to hear it and give it some thought. Unless of course its already been posted here, because I don't see any of these big name hollywood actors, fitting in a Silver Surfer movie. Even Samuel L. Jackson.

I think Vin Diesal would make a great Thanos. As for Silver Surfer, well, I think he's too big and his voice is too gruff. I always thought Jared Leto would be better as Norrin.

Anyone got any word if Baz Luhrman is attached to direct?

I agree that the movie would not be good if you are a real surfer fan you would know his origin is quite boring and not very action packed. so a surfer movie without CGI or any other method for that matter would quite frankly SUCK. But if Marvel in all its wisdom had to make it Billy Zane would be the man for the job. And guys Thanotos was not in the series until midway in Volume 2 so Sammy couldnt be in the movie. But the enemy they would have to use would be Terrax or Morg and Vin could deffinatly be a great Morg and Terrax could be, well I really cannot think of one but there is probably a good no name out there. But again they would have to skip a bunch of bull *beep* to get to that but its that bull *beep* we put up with that makes the surfer so great.

First of all, I am an insanely huge fan of the comic, but only the original 18 issues by Kirby and Lee that began in 1968 (which i own, and Fantastic Four #48 with the first appearance of Galactus and Silver Surfer) and I have always thought about a movie, and in the end, I think it's a bad idea. The whole philosophy of Norrin Radd and his nobility as the Surfer wouldn't catch on to the masses, and this movie would be targeted to the masses so they would change it drastically and ultimately fxck it up. I think the CGI in it would cost too much, no one can really play Norrin, and I just think they would ruin it entirely, and become a mockery in the same vein as the first Punisher or Captain America.

That being said, I have fantasized about seeing the story on the big screen. I wish it would show his home planet's story, and his story with Shalla-Bal and his nobility to save Earth from Galactus. I long to see a CGI version of him as well, and Thanos too.

In the end......I hope they don't make it unless Stan Lee makes sure they don't fxck it up, because after all, he even has said he thinks of it as his finest work ever.

He's a shiny naked guy on a surfboard in space.

I try to never question Stan Lee, but man... some concepts should have just stayed in the drawer.(See also: Ghost Rider.)

The only way Silver Surfer should ever be put on screen is in a supporting role in an FF sequel, since the only time he's ever worth anything is when he helped them beat Galactus that first time.

Naked guy.

Shiny.

Space surfboard.

Yeah, if that's not a blockbuster I don't know what is.

Billy Zane might make a good Silver Surfer...
I would like to see Vin Diesel as villan...especially one as cool as Thanos(his voice is deep and booming, the same as I imagin Thanos' would be). Besides, people wouldn't want to see Vin Diesel die in a movie and Thanos is Surfer's greatest villian...so that won't kill him off.
All they need for Galactus would be a head shot. For him, Hugo Weeving would be good enough (except for his teeth which HollyWood could fix temporarly).

I dont' think a Silver Surfer movie would work either.
A. He's boring
B. He's too powerful
Don't get me wrong, he's my favorite superhero, but the more I think about it, the more I dont' think anyobyd would like it. They'd have to make it real artsy, play lots of classical music (Like Carmen Burana and Dies Irae), and have some ridiculous plot. I see it coming out like Chonicles of Riddick, so much money put into special effects taht tthere was no money left for anything else, and if they did the movie right, only a small number of people (Surfer fans) would like it. Put him in Fantastic Four 2 or something.

Yes ive read on numerous websites about comic book movies that Silver Surfer is on deck to be made, He is my favorite i hope they dont #@$% him up, i agree maybe they should put him in the next F4 movie or something.

I also read they are not sure if they want to do the cgi, like golem or make him an actor for the movie.

I think Billy Zane would be a wonderful choice. I am with xpresidentz, I'm a huge fan of the Lee/Kirby/Bucshema works only. No one else quite made it work with such a wonderful wit and charm and other worldly beauty as the intial 18 issue volume and other stories from those guys. Though I did enjoy the new characters later issues provided his saga. An animated film would probably be best. I would like a live action film to avoid CGI as much as possible even at the risk of looking like a 1970s Sci-Fi film, b/c anything with the Silver Surfer should look and feel as human as possible. (See the CGI Hulk creature of 2003 for why this approach does not work.) The acting, writing and character drama and a soliquizing and philosophizing Silver Surfer is what is important. Of course, the business world being such an influence on film (as is with almost all the arts) mainstream acceptance according to movie-going demographics will be the primary concern. The film will happen though, since Marvel is bent on adapting their characters to the silver screen at such a high pace that many of them seem perfunctory. I for one hope much more care is taken with this character. Stan Lee has written that the Surfer is his favorite character, hopefully his influence will be great.

Of what use is knowledge if it cannot be acted upon?

A great Galaticus woulde this one.
His voice being done by the Great = James Earl Jones, who voice was behind Darth Vader.

But the person in person acting Galaticus should be = Micheal Clarke Douglas

Who would play the Silver Surfer. Now that's a hard one. It really is.
Maybe by using an unknown actor with regards to recent stardom. I think that the Spiderman movies got it just right with its Human actor, and then the fight scenes done with Cgi.. The balance was right! That's what we want for The Silver Surfer films

It would allow the audience to concentrate on the character, instead of the Star.

But the storyline of the Silver Surfer, and the ability to tell how suffers from Loneliness and resentment must be told. If anything if possible as we all saw in the movie of Spiderman 2. We all saw the other side of being a superhero, and how it does effect your life. Then this must be the same with the Silver Surfer. If anything he suffers more then Peter Parker.

Fans of the Silver Surfer want in great detail how Norrin Radd sacified himself twice to save first his own world; and then Earth - with regards to Galaticus. Then we can move on to see how he fought the Fantastic 4, how he came to meet up with Alicia Masters, and then he his beef between him and the thing.....

Then maybe in future films we can see the Silver Surfer, moving on and fighting other causes; other Superheroes

But all of these things must be done with great storyline, or as close to the original stories that were written by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee in the 1960's.
That's what we all want to see.

I think Jason Stratham would be a good surfer.

You need a big guy to play Thanos, possibly Michael Clark Duncan would be a good size match for thanos or Drax...
