Advertisements during showing of movie....

Imagine my surprise and disgust when I watched this film today on Lifetime (May 13, 2007) and it was accompanied by a commercial for "Slim-Quick" diet supplement.... seems like bad judgment to me.

I agree.
I watched it last night on Lifetime Movie Network (I assume that's what you're referring to? Well, where I am, that's what it was on, not the regular Lifetime), and every other commercial was for laxatives. I thought it was really triggering for someone with an eating disorder.
Lifetime is stupid.

If I ever start referring to these as the best days of my life, remind me to kill myself.

It was stupid, but I highly doubt that they pick and choose what commercials they play during each of their movies.

Advertisers pay to television networks to have their commercials on during specific programs.

I doubt they even thought about it. They probally didn't even think, hey this is a movie about an ED people with ED's will probally watch it. To them it was just like any other movie. Just how they'd still advertise cigarettes durring a movie on lung cancer, or candy durring a movie about diabetes...

Advertisers pay for their ads to be on during specific programmes - that's why popular tv shows can make so much money, more people want to advertise during them so it costs more. They also choose by specific demographics, so you will see more ads for kids toys during kids shows, so it's entirely possible that somebody specifically thought it would be a good idea to advertise weight loss products during a movie that weight obsessed people are likely to be watching.

Yeah, i have noticed similar situations when it comes to advertising also.I think they do that because every program usually has a certain demographic of people who are watching.For example i was watching "cook yourself thin" the other day and the one of the first commercials that came on was for Papa Johns Pizza! I was so annoyed.It is just the way it works i guess.
