They shoulda made Bridget Moynihan some kind of bitch

Lars was a buffoon, with that stupid clarinet or oboe or whatever the f he was playing. A totally pretentious douchebag, easy to dislike.

But there was nothing dislikable about Halley's character. She was sweet, she was completely normal, and she got completely screwed over. They needed to make her unlikable somehow, and they didn't.

I want the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.

reply

I totally agree with you. She Got Screwed over pretty badly.

reply

Surprising, isn't it? Although it would have been so typical to make her a controlling and selfish woman, in the end her character deserved better.

You want something corny? You got it!

reply

They needed to make her unlikable somehow,

No they didn't. Some people don't want cartoonish villains or buffoons and can handle some ambiguity in their movies.

reply

Funny you mention that, I thought she was a bit annoying.

I actually felt more sorry for Lars. Its not Sara's fault he's a performer, thats just what they do.
At least it seemed tneir breakup might have been a little less painful...

Imagine being left at the altar, even if you are an annoying goob.

reply

Ha, never thought about that before. Do feel sorry for her, especially when she gave him the book with Sara's number. I never felt sorry for Lars but I never thought him and his "stupid clarinet or oboe" as being douchey

reply

I felt sorry for Lars too, what he does to make a living is honest so I don't know how you can find that stupid. Halley was kind of annoying but I also felt sorry for her. I think the point of the story is that it's not like these two were bad people or anything it's that the two leads felt like something was missing it didn't feel right. I think that made the movie better sometimes that happens in life u just don't love someone no matter how completely normal they seem to be.
