The young man at the Ottoman camp

In the DVd when young Vlad and Radu are brought to the Sultan's camp Vlad looks toward a young (possibly slave) boy in the camp. This scene is often cut when the film re-airs on TV (among other scenes). Was this originally meant to have more significance or just to show that Vlad connected with the other captives of the ottomans?
