How are the battle scenes?

Considering that I take a huge interest in the military aspect of Vlad's life, how are the battle scenes depicted? I mean I'd love to see Vlad in his armour, or the famed and savage Turkish army of Mehmed II that had destroyed the last of the Roman Empire.

No spoilers please.

BUMP.

Not bad, in some instances even more brutal than the most graphic of Braveheart's.

Battle scenes depicted??? What battles? There's little focus if any on battles in this movie. I fail to understand why, but they seem to have forgotten the man actually fought battles! I thought at least the battles should've been presented right! The true story of Vlad without battles doesn't sound true. :-(

"Why not hardcode the reaction parameters?" "Well, yeah, of course... It is possible."

What are you talking about man?! WHICH battles? Do you perhaps think I learnt nothing at my history classes in school? There's nothing about Vlad's battles in this movie!

You must have slept through that excellent battle where Vlad and his army lead the Turks into the forest and ambush them. Or the one which ended with Vlad getting clubbed in the head. Or Vlad singlehandedly fighting the Turkish ambush at the monastery.... <.<

Watch it again. There ARE battles in the movie, even if the movie's primary focus lies with Vlad's political struggles between the Roman Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church while simultaneously trying to purge the corrupt nobles from his homeland.

I have'nt seen the movie. Are there battle scenes or not? How can you watch a movie and not notice a battle scene? Were you in the kitchen getting the popcorn?

Who are you talking to, colvin? Me or him? o.O

The "battle scenes", such as they are, are small scale and completely anachronistic. Suffice it to say, if you are looking forward to Vlad Dracul in period armor, you will be disappointed. The battle scenes consist of small groups of extras in leather or no armor fighting on foot. The choreography is amateurish and it's all shot by someone who doesn't know how to shoot massed combat.

It's not the only aspect of the film that is historically inaccurate. The "ambush" scene metioned by someone else in this thread makes Dracula's "army" appear to be little more than a token guerilla force, and its opponents aren't much more numerous. The look-and-feel throughout the production screams "low budget". The comparisons to Braveheart are somewhat apt, as that film was also plagued with historical inaccuracy and anachronism, although its budget was much larger and the battle scenes were satisfactory despite the factual errors.

I say that describes the battles very well. Not that epic and not a lot of combatants either. Also quite short.
