The only hints to dean's sexuality is that the agent guy was going angry at Jimmy for ansering a question in a magazine. "Question, are you a homosexual? Answer, No I am not a homosexual but i'm not going through life with one hand tied behind my back".

Licking an electrical outlet will not turn you into a Mighty Morphin Power Ranger.

I was expecting them to show a lot more about his relationships... I mean in "The Natalie Wood Story" they have a section dedicated to her friendship with James Dean and his death... I wish they could have done something more like that in this...

It's been fairly well established Dean never had an affair with Mineo. Just another rumor. Stories have floated around about him and damn near every male actor in Hollywood and New York in the '50s.

Don't forget Jim Morrison. The two people I see most beseiged by rumors that is not part of the royal family or a Kennedy are James Dean and Jim Morrison. It bugs the crap out of me.

By Sal Mineo himself. Later on in his life he talked candidly about his own feelings for James Dean, and his confusion about things, but nothing ever came of it. Apparently Sal was never even quite sure is Dean felt the same way; it seemed to be a one-way crush.

I'm sure Dean slept with men but as per Sal, I don't think he has much credibility. He also said something about another celebrity that's been discredited by everyone so he has a very hyperactive imagination.

There seems to be a pattern that if an actor is emotionally troubled and a very interesting, intuitive, and talented character actor then he is either gay or a bisexual or in denial.

Yeah, but James Dean really was bisexual. There is little room for doubt about it. Among other things, the "I'm not going through life with one hand tied behind my back" remark was a very daring comment considering the times, the closest any Hollywood actor had done to "coming out" up to that time. He probably had forsaken the gay side of his nature by the time he fell in love with Pier Angeli.

James Dean played troubled roles onscreen, but I wouldn't describe Dean himself as emotionally troubled, at least no more than any successful young actor of his times-- but interesting and talented, no room for doubt about that, either.

In an interview with Sal Mineo, he mentions that himself and James Dean were close, especially on the set of "Rebel". He says that Dean was like a father, watching out for him. No mention of sexual relations...of course Mineo could just be keeping it to himself...

Just read James Dean biographies/books about him if your curious about his sexuality. I've read four and three out of the four have great and detailed mention of his bisexuality, with interviews with his two most "famous lovers," I can't give you the names of them off the top of my head, been a few years. The last biography of James Dean that I've read, and the only one I have, is called Boulevard of Borken Dreams: The Life, Times, and Legend of James Dean. Albeit it was made in 1994, so not the most current of Dean bios. But still good none the less, and very steamy to say the least. A great read for James Dean fans, i highly recommend

Sal Mineo claims he had a crush on him, but there is no mention of a relationship between the two.

Why would he keep it to himself. Sal was really open about his feelings about James Dean in interviews post 1956, especially after he came out. I'm sure he would have been open about the fact that they had a relationship.

I don't know if there specifically was a relationship with Sal Mineo but I do know he was bisexual. In many of the books written by him it is stated that he slept with either producers or directors to get a part. I'm not talking about the big movies he did, but the earlier stuff he did that no one really remembers.

okay people, who cares if he was bisexual?

Sal mineo said that he looked up to Jimmy, and had a crush on him but didn't realize it till long after he died. Sal Mineo himself is dead, he was murdered in the 80s. You see, they didn't have an affair, unless it was GROSSLY hidden. I'm a Deaner straight through. I've read two biographies on him, and counting. And i'm not trying to show off, but neither had any mentions of a Mineo-Dean affair. I think Mineo was too young anyway, i'm not sure of his age then. About 16 or something. I wouldn't disagree with the relationship, but would Jimmy go with someone so young?

Sa; has basically said straight out that nothing ever happened with him and Dean. Mineo had a huge crush on Dean and would have loved for there to have been something more, but it was nothing more.

He also said that Dean was very hot and cold. Some days he would be super friendly and warm and other days he would walk right by Mineo and make him feel like he was a POS. Thats just how Dean was.

As far as Dean being truly bisexual, no one knows. Its known that he had sex with men, but almost all of them if not all of them were men in power or men he could get something out of. He used his looks and sex appeal to his advantage with gays and got what he could out of them... one biography even blatantly says no one knows if he was truly bi. But its known he would do whatever he had to do to make it ahead, like most people trying to become somebody in Hollywood. Deans serious relationships were all with women... he only had sexual relationships with men he could get something out of. The book also basically says the roommate that Jimmy had that claims they were in loves stories are inconsistent and so on...
