To the people who hate it. Are you aware the film itself is a joke

If you know toms comedy you know he does everything for reactions. That can be something as simple as sneaking a crappy painting into a museum http://youtu.be/9QG5cxudhCk or just *beep* with subway employees http://youtu.be/bnyVE1go2vs

In the same way this entire film is a joke on the audience. Tom made this with sole purpose of getting a reaction. So please don't bitch about it being bad when that's how it was supposed to be.

Nice try saddo.

"So please don't bitch about it being bad when that's how it was supposed to be."

That it was supposed to be that bad doesn't make it a good film. It's still trash.

reply

Ok. Still not a good movie.

I love this movie. I mean... I know it isn't Scorsese but it makes me laugh with its ridiculousness. It's so absurd with the drawings and situations. The sweet girl Betty being in the wheelchair having a fetish about being caned. The quotes from the movie kill me every time. It's fun to be out somewhere with friends and suddenly yell "YOU HEAR THAT DAD! YOU'RE GONNA PAY!" and know that someone will follow it up with "He's a MOLESTER! He's a CHIIIIIIIIIIILD molester!" or "I wanna eat chicken burgers!" and being told "You can eat gddmnd roast beef or you can go to BED."

It's just fun. I don't care about his motivations for making it. It makes me laugh.

I take myself too seriously sometimes and it's good to have something that just diffuses the stress of watching the world burn. Seriously... look at the news. Ukraine... Israel... Illegals invading the United States... People need to laugh at something that's more absurd than the world we are living in.

It's nice to just escape. Tell me you wouldn't want a cheese helmet and ride the belt with a chub of lunch meat in the ladies faces while saying "DING DONG! DING DONG!" I know I sure would.

Shock value has to have a point. If it dosent, then all we have is meaningless shock. In this case, a grotesque display of idiocy. If you truly like this movie for any reason, you need to see a doctor.

And I'm sure the doctor will laugh at my face when I tell them the reason I'm there is because I like trashy shock movies.

Honestly, it's a lot more respectable than the bulk of the flood of post-"There's Something About Mary" gross-out comedies. You have to admire how Tom Green just didn't make a teenager-friendly PG-13 big budget 90-minute episode of his show, but instead boldly make one of the most unsettlingly creepy gleefully dark comedies that Hollywood's released this millennium. Green had a vision, got quality actors to turn in great performances, and managed to get away with a lot of unique visuals and one-of-a-kind scenarios not seen in a major motion picture before or since.

Freddie Got Fingered isn't for everybody. Not by a long shot. I think a lot of the subsequent hate its gotten following its initial release has come from the butchered television versions. Green used his 15 minutes of fame and one chance to make a movie to make something truly from his heart. While it would never be an blockbuster "Austin Powers" catchphrase machine, there's a reason we've seen so many threads and discussions about Freddie Got Fingered over the years, as opposed to Tomcats, Boat Trip, Joe Dirt etc.

Love it or hate it (and you would be justified in either reaction) you'll never forget it, and for that I wouldn't put it in any "worst movies of all time" lists. It's art and the closest thing this generation has to Pink Flamingos.

Yeah, it isn't a good movie but not an awful one. The whole thing is just a bizarre experience. When people call me a movie snob, or not to take movies so seriously, I always say I, not only enjoy this movie, but own it.

I remember The New York Times actually gave it an okay review. I think it was the only paper not to give it an F or flat out say it was awful.

I don't understand. If the film is supposed to be bad and it was made to get a reaction out of people, why shouldn't people say it's bad? That's what he wanted according to you. If he set out to make a bad movie and succeeded then I don't see what's wrong with pointing that out.
