Question for anyone that used to watch anime on sci fi uk

There was another show, that was sometimes shown back to back with excel saga or neon genesis evangelion or whatever on the Sci fi Uk anime block. It basically involved the crew of an airship who were protecting this princess of one country from the prime minister of a rival country that wanted to unleash darkness on the world. The princess had a big dog or a wolf or a tiger protecting her. It's been a while & I can't remember the details. If anyone knows the show I'm talking about, it'd be great I've been trying to remember the name all day & it's driving me mad. Or maybe I dreamt it up
