What's Up Tiger Lilly and KPETF

This film is one of my guilty pleasures probably because it reminds me a great deal of Woody Allen’s What’s Up Tiger Lilly (WUTL). I understand that Oedekerk is no Allen but WUTL is not a typical Allen film. Fighting an alien syndicate based in France is not any more, or less, outlandish than trying to get the secret for the world’s greatest egg salad.

I laughed when we were asked to clap to save the hero when he was shot in WUTL and I laughed out loud when the nut seller said, “That’s a lot of nuts!” in KPETF. Mie Hama is WUTL’s beauty like Jennifer Tung, or Elsa Cancino are to KPETF.

Maybe that is why I am more forgiving to KPETF because I went into watching the movie thinking Oedekerk was using WUTL as his inspiration and not attempting to pass his movie off as an original idea. (That would have been a major mistake if they had but I don’t think they did.)

I can think of many mainstream comedies that were horrible and came with a lot of star power to boot. This movie took some thinking to coordinate the old with the new. Not everyone’s cup of tea and not discussed much in threads because it had no release, not even on Nickelodeon. Again, much like WUTL.

That is one of my favorite lines! It was so funny the way he yells it out, lol. The entire movie is so funny.

"I understand that Oedekerk is no Allen" Kung Pow: Enter The Fist is funnier than What's Up Tiger Lily.
