Nudity (Not what your thinking)

I used to watch TLW when it was new and it didn't have any nudity but my local station just picked it up again I've only seen three episodes so far and all three have had female full frontal nudity and I don't mean blurry far off shots. I must admit I'm all for naked women but what's the deal I would remember this and it's running in the middle of the day Saturday. It just strikes me as really odd. I'm in Canada in case your wondering. Thank you.

reply

You're talking TLW TV series? Right???
I have the DVDs and have never seen full frontal nudity on the show ...

reply

Ok then this is even weirder then. The episodes I ended up seeing it in were The one with the giant bee hive the girl that raises out of the honey and the first on with Tribune (did I spell his name right) the girl roxton ends up with she drops her dress. I've seen both these episodes a couple of times before and they didn't have nudity before. As for the last episode it wasn't one I'd seen before but I think it was really early on.

reply

Hm. Sure, these things happened but you never actually see anything.

In the pilot Marguerite is bathing (nude) in a lake but even when she rushes out of the water we never see anything but a bare back and leg.

reply

actually on this episode if you look past the rifle's magazine you can clearly see partial nipple.

reply

Like you say - it's weird. I've seen the bee babe topless in a clip on the net, but her hair covers her on tv in the US. I've seen a vidcap of the girl naked with Roxton, but again - she's covered on tv.

Supposedly Veronica is spotted bathing near a waterfall completely naked in an episode - not sure which one. It's supposedly really her, just from a great distance and from the back, but you see Jennifer's face as she turns at the end to see someone watching her. Only seen a very small vidcap, but it sure looks like O'Dell to me.

Apparently the dvds have the censored versions, so if you wanna tape the "good" versions and post 'em, I wouldn't complain.

=)

“Well, my days of not takin' you seriously are certainly coming to a middle.”

reply

None of the DVD's are censored. It was up to Newline to choose what version they wanted to put out to the public (and since there are rights involved in the different versions; I'm sure the ones chosen for the distribution were those that had the least legal issues).

"Shall we raise our shields, Captain?"
"At ease, Chekov. Again with the shields?"

reply

Well actually all. Marguerite shows her backside..and her bare cute ass in one episode when she gets out the water. When a young king peeks at her from a distance. And Veronica shows alittle more..her spread open legs..showing her crotch while fighting. Guess you all missed some of these good shots.

reply

You have the scene in Camelot correct with Rachel Blakely......but Jennifer only did one nude scene in TLW and it was at the beginning of "Cave of Fear". It's quite a far shot. Afraid a website has photo shopped a picture of Veronica that's incorrect and there is nothing inappropriate in that one shot, while she's fighting when the series aired or even on the DVD.

reply

In the DVD version of the (bad) SF movie "The Colony," presented on the IMDb as "The Advanced Guard," there are three short scenes of Jennifer O'Dell, naked, enjoying her body as if she was an alien who just started inhabiting it. She is credited as Nonie Muse ....Girl.

An IMDb search on Nonie Muse results in only a single entry for "The Advanced Guard," a.k.a. "The Colony." A Google image search on Nonie Muse results in only two links, which appear to be identical images. The www.findaceleb.com link is broken, but the www.celeb-s.com link clearly shows two images of Jennifer.

These three scenes were probably added for the DVD version, since "The Colony" was was a TV movie produced for the Sci-Fi channel. There is a thread about this on the Jennifer O'Dell board.

reply

No..they show images of a person called "Nonie Muse". Apparently those shots of Nonie had nothing to do with the film. I've seen the DVD...the person certainly looks like Jennifer..but until she acknowledges the clips...the person is "Nonie Muse".

reply

I have The Colony on DVD, so I'll need to need to investigate. I've never paid much attention to those scenes as I'm usually fast forwarding to the next Isabella Hofmann scene. :-) I haven't the foggiest as to why they were included as they spoiled what could have been a fun movie to watch with my twelve-year-old nephew.

I sincerely hope that Jennifer never degraded herself like that. If she did, my opinion of her won't be quite as high.

IH: "I've changed my look and appearance so many times that people often don't recognize me."

reply

Wow, way to show your limited view to the world, and to slam Jennifer, I am sure that she gives a %$@@ that your opinion is dropping due to a possible nude scene, although I am sure that your 12 yr old nephew's view will be "upgraded" if he is to see her naked, maybe you should stick to reading books

I remember when the show first aired on satellite TV in 1999 and they promoted the fact that these episodes were the "foreign director's cuts" with nudity. I don't remember seeing any myself and didn't get hooked on the show until it was on broadcast tv later on. I've been looking for the uncut DVD's myself, but I guess they don't exist?

reply

Foreign Director Cuts LOL... the directors were all from Australia. The guest stars did show more... Watch *Rome* on HBO and you'll see more nudity, then the scant scenes on TLW.

reply

Same deal in the pilot of Stargate-SG1. Jackson's wife does a full-frontal shot in the DVD version when Apophis has her prepared to get the larva. Wasn't there on TV, but it was there in the DVDs.

I used to have a review out there but it seems like the site is gone. So here's a quickie overview. . .

Lost World originally began as a first run PPV series (at least on DirecTV) and was billed as an series filmed for grown-ups (as opposed to being dumbed down for a general audience demographic). It had a completely different intro sequence from the series as it aired in syndication. Yes, there was some nudity, but it was minimal. No, the R1 DVD does not contain any nudity as it was the dumbed-down syndication version.

I have a Yahoo group that I set up a while ago and pretty much forgot about. I'll upload the PDF of the review there for those interested.

EDIT: http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/cryptforum/

Should be uploaded now.

The Collectors Edition DVD is the European Version with some extended scenes.s aired. No nudity. This rare collectors edition was put out by Liberty and available only through the www.amazon.ca site. The Liberty DVD includes 3rd season bloopers, 2003 Convention video featuring Jennifer O'Dell, David Orth, Will Snow and Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens.

I've got a DVD of this horrible show which features the Veronica waterfall scene. It's full frontal, but it might be a body double.

reply

i saw a nip slip on o'deel (Jennifer) on the bee episode at the very begining of the show shes running to save that old guy from a giant bee as shes runniging at the right paused moment her tits are bouncing and you see a little bit of nip.

I have the German (region 2)versions of the show (which have an English soundtrack) they definitely include some minor nudity (topless scenes)The secene of Veronica in the waterful definitely shows her topless where as she is wearing her normal outfit in the US region 1 version I have. There is also a scene of both grils bathing in a pool. They combine two stories into one 2 hour episode.

The firm issuing them is called EMS www.e-m-s.de_ Don't know if they are still available as I bought them in Berlin a few years ago.

I used to watch this show when it first began when I was a kid and it was on Wednesday nights on The New VR, but then on Saturdays the channel would replay shows it would show threw the week such as Xena, Hercules, Jack Of All Trades, Cleopatra 2525, and The Lost world, and if there were unedited versions of the shows that is what they would replay on the late Saturday nights and there was lots of nudity from The Lost world.

I can't remember the character names but the dark haired woman goes skinny dipping and in the versions I saw you saw her breasts several times, the blonde haired woman also got naked a few times near the beginning of the series, and I remember the woman in the bee hive for sure being naked as well and then also just randomly several other times nudity being in the show. Was a bit of a perv as a kid, saw a boobie and was hooked.

reply

Also, if you don't believe me it is as easy as doing a google image search of the actresses names and you will see.

reply

It's funny how perverted boys go crazy over a little nudity. Anyway, the show was original a PPV series and it did include nudity. Because the rights for this episodes are only for the foreign market, the U.S. only received the dumb down versions with no nudity. The U.S. DVD's are all edited and show the T.V. version. Not sure if the Canada version is uncut or not. May have to research that a little further.

The Lost World (first season only) had two versions. One slated for the syndication market. And one slated for Pay Per View. Both were shown in the USA the same year. There is no Canadian version. The first season (special edition put out by Liberty) could only be sold in Canada, due to some legal rights issues. The Special edition doesn't have any nudity (just in case anyone was wondering). Some nice extras include an extended opening credits and footage from the 2003 LW Convention. The Newline version sold in the USA doesn't have any extras (or nudity).

I know this message is a little old, but I wanted to comment on it...

It's funny how perverted boys go crazy over a little nudity.

For me, it's not so much a matter of needing to see the nudity, but more the fact that I'm being told that I can't see it. That only the edited/censored version is suitable for me to watch.

I hate when movies or shows are edited from their original versions. Unless it's done sparingly to correct minor goofs, such as cropping a microphone out of the shot, I want to see the movie/show the way it was originally filmed. It really bugs me when I read about DVD/Blu-Ray versions omitting scenes or removing dialog.

This is a THREADED message board. Please reply to the proper post!

I bet you're some skank that walks around with her tits looking out.

Not many people watched the DirecTV VERSIONS. Those that did watch and tape some of the gone in a heartbeat extended scenes did post them on their personal LW Fan sites. Since the show aired over 17 years ago not one of those sites are still functioning.
