How weird is this? Do you think some things cross the line of decency?

Its weird as hell..

I personally think that some of it crosses the line of decency, and is offensive. Like this woman has had an abortion or a miscarriage and this bloke brings round a really small coffin as a present. Theres loads of stuff like that. Loads of jokes are made with children in inappropriate situations and rape.

I think some things in it are funny, and the way the music and visual effects create a kind of feeling that you are on drugs is very clever.

What bits do other people think crossed the line?

nothing crossed the line.

so it would be alright to show ANYTHING on TV?

reply

I don't think there is a line.
It's all personal taste.
For me for example the pervy estate agent and the mentally damaged sister "25 sessions knock off £10,000" is unpleasant but I don't mind anything else in it.

As I said, all personal taste.
How, apart from that thing I mentioned above, is it offensive.

Its disturbing... Very disturbing. but you know what? TO HELL WITH GOOD INTENTIONS! What you call decency is only what is enforced on you by the media and goverment. Sick demented freaks are among us if you like it or not. if you cant handle what is in front of you gotta ask why! which is mayb the whole point. If you dont have a dark side on TV that pushes the envelope and secures a truth for the other generations then all you would get is ITV look alikes of Mums On Strike (which I find very funny but 4 all the wrong reasons)

If I had a baby that died, I would be offended by the little coffin sketch.

reply

If I knew someone named betty who died, and later on that day I was watching telly and betty died while cookin her hotpots would corrie be to blame?

reply

But that wouldn't be making fun of someone called Betty dying. Betty just died.

reply

Where do you start, the sketch with the parants whos son didn't come home from school i found quite bad taste BUT! when i saw it with the canned laughter on it did become more amusing, i didn't like the baby coffin sketch either, the sketch with the girl who had a mans private parts put on her was a bit wierd also. However my fave has to be the fix it girl.

No, not saying that at all. I just relaxed about it all in the end. Looking back at my last post on this thread i do contradict myself at times. As for the fix it girl sketch you have to give it'em for the madness of it all. I still don't like the baby coffin sketch though.

reply

The baby/coffin sketch was one of the ones that didn't make me uneasy at all - i can see a future where people do use little coffins to bury dead babies.

reply

That wasn't the 'joke' of the sketch, you pleb. He'd made it for the couple who'd had a miscarriage as a 'present'.

reply

I saw the sketch as the couple had an abortion.

The man who made the coffin gives it to the couple as a thoughtful gift since he was the father of the aborted child.

I'm not sure if that makes it more or less "acceptable".

I found the sketch wonderful awkward watching though, loved it.

The man who has a funeral while still alive creeps me out most.

reply

What makes you think the sketch makes fun of the baby dying?

"Like this woman has had an abortion or a miscarriage and this bloke brings round a really small coffin as a present."

I thought that was a sweet gesture. How often in our hectic lifestyles do we take other's feelings into consideration? That scrunt of an OP should remember that.

reply

if you're really being offended by some of the stuff in this then dont watch it. how else are you going to bury a dead baby/featus? pop it in a bag and bung it in the bin??

reply

Like most comedy, Chris Morris and the other writers aren't having a laugh at the victims of rape, domestic violence, miscarriage etc..., instead the comedy comes from the unexpected dialogue or activities in the scenarios.

reply

The bit with the couple who had a cock and balls grafted onto their daughter's body. Didn't really know how to take that one.

"ANIMALS RULE! TIMOTHY CONQUERED! *beep* YOU, PARK SERVICE!!!"
