Beautiful film, but

Does it imply that Kalyani would have remained alone and forsaken if she was not "beautiful"? I heartily dislike the average rom-com meet-cute where one individual sees the other like a pair of shoes in the shop window and "falls" in love with the appearance (never mind the maintenance.) Looks change with age and do not demarcate a good person to begin with.

Whether you like or not, most relationships do start out with first impression, first attraction... and these firsts are usually by the sense of sight, which is looks. Men are especially moved by beauty, while women are by gallantry, wealth, power, intellect, accomplishment... So, yes... Kalyani was getting notice and immediately smitten by this man because of her beauty (shoes analogy). There is nothing wrong with that. It's called attraction. Now, how they would carry out their love life as husband and wife (maintenance analogy) is another story all together; and we can't judge because we don't know (for the movie did not go there). Also, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"... then, was she "beautiful" as you have stated? That's all depend on the "beholder", right?
