This has its moments, like Negative Creep, Lithium and Territorial Pissings. But the rest of it is just severely average. Why they didn't include a proper version of Come as You Are or Smells Like Teen Spirit is beyond me.
I don't give a flying *beep* If, as a nirvana fan, i went to see them and they did something like that. I would be really pissed off. That is really selfish of him.
yeah the smells like teen spirit song was on top of the pops in england, and the show wouldnt let them play thier instruments, they wanted them to pretend to play and have the instrumentals pre recorded so only the vocals would be live, so the band kind of messed up on purpose to stick it to the man so to speak, and i thought that was one of the best parts of the dvd, load up on drugs kill your friends, that was funny as hell
i know the story. I still would have rather seen a proper version of the song, and come as you are. Once you've seen them once, you don't want to see those crappy versions again.
I read somewhere that this DVD really is for true fans of Nirvana and Kurt, not newbies who just like the hits. I totally have to agree, the top of the pops performance, and the other British TV one (territorial Pissings instead of Lithium...and boy do they rip through that song) are the highlights of the DVD (Which is full of highlights!)...
I remember watching the old VHS years ago, and I loved those two parts. Name a rock band that would have the balls to pull that now...
So go listen to Nevermind (not a horrible albulm but not their best by far) and watch your MTV while we all enjoy Outcesticide and this awesome dvd!!
Yes! I also stayed home from grade school and sang along to the whole VHS version of this. This is by far the most interesting Nirvana movie/doc/compilation ever. I do love live in Reading but this had interviews and funny stuff and yeah it was so original and still is. I loved the "Secret Song" on this and just about everything about this.
The Come As You Are performance is definately terrible but it's the only thing I don't like. My favourite parts though are the Hollywood Rock performances.
