This was a great movie!

after the first 10 minutes of the movie, it gets a lil slow, but then after the 25 minutes of slowness, the movie gets good and doesn't stop! It's got a few good surprises too! "Gwen" is one of the best characters ever! I love these international films!

How on earth is Gwen of all people one of the best characters ever? Her character makes little sense at all. She spends the majority of the movie arguing with her father and having sex with random guys; nonetheless, lamenting the absence of her best friend. Then her best friend shows up, and she repeatedly abandons her and still has lots of sex.

If it felt like Gwen or Lise grew in any way after Lise arrived, the film could have actually been pretty good. As it is, it's a mediocre film that never gives the viewer much reason to care about any of the characters. Well, maybe Lise to an extent, but that gets totally blown by the end of the film: an ending which randomly turns her into a slut and a murderer on the run.

Were it not for some very competent acting, this film would have been a complete and utter disaster.

I highly recommend watching Emporte-moi. It's another French film that covers a lot of the same type of subject matter as Les filles ne savent pas nager, except it does it with characters whom generally make sense and can be connected with. I warn you though, it's stylistically patterned after Jean-Luc Godard; therefore, it contains only a very loose version of the typical narrative format. This can be initially off-putting to those who aren't accustomed to watching films of that type.

she has tons of sex with random guys!

That's supposed to be a BAD thing?

Well that's an interesting synopsis of my post, but no, I never suggested that promiscuous sex is bad. I'm by no means a prude, I just don't think it helped her character at all, and actually took time away from places where there could've been actual character development.
