Jimmy Sangster?

What the hell is Jimmy Sangster's name doing in the writing credits?

Sangster is known as writer for some of Hammer's greatest films (and others) from the 1950s to the '70s.

Is this perhaps an indirect remake of one of those? Or adapted from some other work of his (eg novel)?

Well - he IS the writer of the film. Sangster sold his original screenplay actually called "Not in front of the children" to the German production company who developed it further with him. The director's wife added some stuff so she shares the writer's credit.

Thanks for the reply, Z9.

From where did you get that info?

Yes - the original script was by THE Jimmy Sangster.

Sangster even discusses this a little in his commentary on the DVD of Blood for the Vampire. He says in his original script everyone was suffocated with a cushion and/or pillow and then the sickle killings were added by another writer in rewrites.
