HORRIBLE WASTE OF MONEY.

I seriously dislike this movie, I was under the false impression that dogs and cats would be of equal standing or something, but noooooo it was just a way to write off an entire species as evil. YES dogs are loyal and clever, but you are a true animal lover to like a cat.
Cats are what they are, they won't change just because you want them too, they won't jump through hoops or preform silly tricks, they will however show you warmth and affection, smarts and yes even bravery, which I once wittnessed when my own cat fearlessly stood up against the neighbour's harrasing labrador (who was about tripple his weight.)
thats just my opinion however as a cat owner of thirteen years.(since i was a baby!)

But thats what you think. See you like cats. There are people like me who think dogs are so much better. I like cats as well but i like dogs too. If you only dont like this movie because the cats are evil then i dont think you understand that this is a movie. There are movies out there that show dogs as mean and evil. Dogs love just as much as cats maybe even more.

This is abslutelty the most idiotic message board on all of IMDB. This movie was made for 7 year olds yet for some reason you weird-ass cat-activists won't accept that it's a movie and rather have decided it was created to once-and all settle the score between Cats and Dogs. As much as I would like to tell all of you to "grow up" it seems that I should be telling you the opposite.

reply

Hey, Hey Please I'm not looking for a fight and I most certainly AM NOT some "weird ass cat activist" so please calm down,
your right this is a kids movie and it never intended to offend anyone (ovbiously!) I was just feeling frustrated that so often dogs are portrayed in a better light than cats, I'M REALLY sorry IF I came across a little strong its just that all my life I've had to listen to the argument why dogs make better pets and up until now i've just sat back and smiled.
Yes I love cats BUT I also love dogs all my best friends own a dog!
As for telling me to "do the opposite of growing up" (what ever that means!)
Bear in mind I'm only 15 years old and was ten when this movie came out, I was just a child yet I still hated this movie, heck I'd still hate this movie even if cats were good and dogs were evil all in all it's pretty much a bad movie all round.

reply

Oh come on. This movie is funny. It doesn't necessarily give the idea that cats are evil and dogs are good or the other way around. Its just a movie thats supposed to be funny. There isn't meant to be any truth in how they portray what is represented in the movie. All of it is fiction. Cats being evil, fiction. Just like how cats and dogs can talk in the movie. FICTION! To make it funny, you can't have too much realism.

If they made dogs evil, I wouldn't care! In fact, dogs have sometimes been portrayed as bullies to smaller animals in several old cartoons. And those are still funny (to me at least and I love dogs but cats are alright too).

reply

I can't understand how it means something to you...

It's just a movie lol.

reply

simonater,
Did you forget the German shepherd? Not all the dogs were 'Americans'. Wasn't the scene with all the dogs at headquarters sort of a take-off on the U. N. with the dogs representing different countries?

I'm a serious cat lover, and I thought this movie was pretty funny.

It was cheesey. But funny to see the talking animals.

I am in no way asking you to test this by misstreating a dog, im illustrating a point.

A dog will cringe and crawl to get your affection even if you have just told him bad dog. A cat usually just remains aloof after a scolding. She may meow but won't beg for forgiveness the way a dog will.

This is a stupid post with stupid responses. How did it become a "cats are better" & "dogs are better" post?

They are two different kinds of animals. I have dogs and I have cats. Both have good attributes and bad attributes. It is difficult to determine which is more intelligent because they have different trains of thought. Cats are better in some respects. Dogs are better in some respects.

Don't you insult my post. I have an opinion on a movie. I say it. Its called the internet MOVIE database, I was merely starting a debate. Get over it.

reply

HA HA I just found this old thread.
Yeah I was barely fifteen when I made the original post, just being a moody teenager, I'm almost twenty now so I no longer really give a sh*t.

...Okay, I'm a cat lover too, but I love this movie as well. And I have loved and owned cats for fifteen years, sweetie (Since I was a baby as well). If you notice, not all the cats were evil (The cat helping Mr. Tinkles for instance, was just stupid. If he hadn't met Mr. Tinkles, chances are, he'd have been a normal house cat). Plus, there were other residental cats who just lived with humans.

Also, if you try hard enough, you can get a cat to perform silly tricks. My one kitty Lily used to get on her hind legs and wave her paws like she was dancing if I asked her to. It takes much more work to train a cat, though.

reply

It wasn't a waste of money, but it wasn't really worth seeing.

I can't believe how seriously people take things. I ended up on this board just by doing a little IMDb surfing, haven't even seen the movie, but even without seeing it, I hardly think they made it with the intention of making cats look bad. The ever-persistent plot against cats! I have both a dog and a cat and like them both for different reasons. You can't really say one is a better pet than the other. Different people have different tastes. But to think that there is some conspiracy to always portray cats in a bad light is a bit ridiculous.
