Why are the Cats bad?

Why?

cause it fits our perception. unfortunately in this society cats get the scraps. ha i didn't know i'd rhyme. other than say egypt

reply

Because for some undecipherable reason, people prefer dogs. Personally, dogs make me want to shoot myself.

I don't hate dogs, but god damn I'd never take one. It can't take care of himself, It can't feed himself, It can't take a dumb outside by himself, It can't keep himself cleaned. I prefer cats.

reply

Because the vast vast majority of people prefer Dogs whereas people see Cats as a nuisance.

reply

I never understood that, seeing as cats basically take care of themselves.

When you can take a cat hiking with you, or on a long walk, let me know. Cats aren't smart enough to be trained to do tricks either.

Dogs are simply bigger. You could train one to use a litter box, except that it would be cruel to box up your dog for life in a house. When I was a kid, our dog would leave the house in the morning, and return at night, but we lived in the country. Our cat would do the same thing.

About the only advantage of a cat over a dog is that you don't have to bathe MOST cats. Cats just aren't nearly as fun in my opinion. We'd take our dog hiking, to our friend's houses, with us to my grandparents, etc. With a cat, you just leave it at home.

I think the biggest reason people own cats is they are hardly a buddy at all and don't require much work at all to have. When is the last time you saw somebody out drinking in beer garden with their cat, or at a outdoor restaurant with their cat? When is the last time you met somebody on a hiking trail with their cat? Dogs are far more of a buddy than a cat is. I don't see why people own cats, they don't hardly do anything with them at all. Basically cat ownership seems to be feeding them, and cleaning a litter box. Where is the enjoyment in that?

reply

"Cats aren't smart enough to be trained to do tricks either." BS! It's simply not in a cat's nature to do something solely for the pleasure of another being. Give one enough treats and positive reinforcement to arouse its interest in doing something not in its native interest, and it will do anything a typical dog will. Learn a bit more about animal behavior before you spout off such ignorance simply because you take a personal disliking to felines. Besides, who cares about "having fun" with an animal that you cannot respect? Not many animals live in complete and absolute subservience to another like dogs do with their humans; I think it's idiotic to prefer an animal that cannot think for itself and that in scientific experiments will still lick the hand of a person who is literally abusing it, simply because it has learned that this person is its master. Who cares that people don't take their cats to a beer garden or outdoor restaurant?? That completely invalidates the reason that a person would own one in the first place? You are a moron who is obviously incapable of thinking beyond your own limited preferences for canines to understand that people who own, or prefer, cats do so for other reasons...otherwise, why wouldn't they just get a dog in the first place? Go take your stupid dog hiking and know that because of its utter dependence on you and the other humans it considers family, it will never (in your idiotic words) "be smart enough" to learn to survive on its own.

I had two cats, when I lived up in Vermont, that would take long walks with me. I'm talking two and three mile hikes through the fields. Admittedly, the Blue Point Siamese would occasionally get lost, but she wasn't the smartest cat; in fact, she was pretty stupid, but very affectionate. The grey tabby tom could usually find her and get her home all right.

Because dogs are always happy to see you, hardly ever ignore you (unless they are in an exceptionally sulky mood), are playful, loyal and actually show their love for you. While kittens are playful and listen to you, they tend to totally blank you as they grow up and only say hello when they are hungry.
Got a joke for you.. A dog thinks of its human: "my human feeds me, takes care of me, loves me... he must be god". A cat thinks of its human: "my human feeds me, takes care of me, loves me... I must be god". lol..
I love both cats and dogs, and although yes, cats are easier to take care of, dogs are more faithful. I love my cats still (all 3 of them!:P )

I think people prefer dogs rather than cats because these represent wild nature that wasn´t tamned by man. Cats still feel like leopards. They like to have their own territory an patroll it by night. Still, they feel it´s always good to go back to a human´s company. And maybee they´re just too proud to admit they like humans.
Dogs are the tamned nature (and it´s no coincidence that people have an ancestral fear of wolves), but I see the relationship man/dog more like a master/slave one.
If dog is truly man´s best friend, people wouldn´t treat dogs like slaves. And it´s interesting to notice that the word "dog" is frequently used to insult somebody...
Question is: who´s the dogs´ best friend?

reply

....who do you know who treats dogs like slaves?

One of mine is very "catlike" and lacks the subservient mindset people sometimes tend to attribute to dogs (as opposed to felines.) And she's a Saluki, like Ivy.

A dog is used mostly for hardwork. And honestly, that thing of making dogs do stuff like obbey our commands for sitting, going up, etc. seems like a funny way to show control. In conclusion, a dog is an animal that will do anything you want. Much like a slave.
For the record, slaves weren´t always mistreated.

reply

Well, I see what you're saying. True, dogs assist mankind in so many ways and are generally obedient and submissive to humans, without being abused or beaten into it, soo...you could look at it that way. It just sounded like a negative thing. ^^ I would prefer to see the relationship as a partnership--most of the time, anyway.

reply

I disagree that humans and dogs have a "master/slave" relationship

Dogs are pack animals in the first place, if you give the dog enough domination over you he can and will take over as the leader

Cats see humans as equal - he will take food if offered and in return will bring food to you, if not then they will either find someone else who will treat them nicely or hunt themselves

reply

^ All true. Although I'm pretty sure my dog sees herself as being at LEAST equal to humans, if not superior...and makes sure we all know it, too. ;) She's certain that I paid for the privilege of being owned by her.

reply

I ignored the obvious fact that dogs are much more useful in a burglar situation or if a threat were around xP

reply

Well, yes, that is of course true...not that cats can really help it, though. They do make good alarms, and their claws can be highly effective in certain situations. ^^

reply

A cat would prolly like to help fight a burglar but just hasn't got the brawn :(

reply

I'm sure...:( All cats are around the same size, while dogs range from "teacup Yorkies" and Chihuahuas to Irish Wolfhounds and Mastiffs! That kind of variation alone sets them apart from all other species, and makes them better suited to many different tasks...

This is true xD

Ahahaha...well, ya never know! XD And it'd be just like me to over-analyze a silly family film. When on appeals so well to my love of animals, how can I resist? ;)

reply

We can chatter on about the animals all day long just others seem to take the movie a tad seriously xD

they always give the evil elitist cat a british accent xD you americans arent exactly innocent yourselves!

reply

Well, it is a very serious and culturally significant film, after all! ;-D *chuckle* Yeah, what's with that, anyway? Does it make a character sound more evil? I suspect they do it because it ups the "sophisticated, intelligent, refined, calculating genius" effect. That notwithstanding, we Americans are certainly capable of being just as conniving and bad, if not worse. x3

reply

Yep, exactly! xD

I'm actually Irish (don't get me started on what hollywood stereotypes the Irish people as!!!)

it's just the british upper-classness because they have the royal family xD

I like you, Um. I like largeness...

reply

Why are the cats bad? Because its funny! Its just a funny plot for a children's movie. Dogs tend to be more obedient and protective, and cats tend to be more "you can only pet me when I want to be petted, my bowl isn't empty but its not full enough for me to eat from so I'll meow until you fill it". So its easy to make that leap to protective spy-dog heros vs. evil cats just biding their time so they can take over the world. I love both cats and dogs, and I don't believe either are evil, though working at an animal hospital has allowed me to see the best and worst of both, btw the worst of the dogs doesn't come from the pitbull breed. :)

And whoever said cats are stupid need to be around them more. My cat comes when I call and goes in the bedroom when I tell him "bedtime". We have also had a cat board at our hospital that sits for treats (cutest thing ever). IMO people just don't take the time to train cats like they do dogs, and too many cats don't care enough about treats to have that training incentive.
