DVD extras

Has anyone seen any of the DVD extras? I heard there is an interview with Ricardo Meneses talkking about how his first time with a guy was and his first time with a girl. Plus I think you get a photo gallery. Can someone comment on this? Ricardo is so hot and am curious what he say in his interview

Hi....I rented the dvd and do not recall any interview with that actor (who is very sexy, btw). There was an interview w/ the director, and I believe he was the one who mentioned how the young actor already had a girlfriend. If I'm not mistaken, the filming of this movie had to be delayed a few months, waiting for the main actor to turn 18.

There is such an interview - it's his casting interview. The extras overall are pretty decent... the photo gallery is also not too bad.

The Portuguese edition of the film also contains the short that João Pedro Rodrigues directed before "O Fantasma" was released - "Parabéns".

Canhenha, what's the short like, is it as dark as o fantasma?
It's not included in the American release, which btw is being marketed almost like a gay soft-core film. Features like "Spicy audition" and "eye Candy moments" tend to do the film a disservice. I know that sex sells but they didn't have to take such a childishly titillating tone. I saw it at the theatre and found it very affecting.

Yeah, Americans tend to trash art films, and package them in a way that they think will sell the product. Like advertising THIS as gay soft core!? I think people who buy this intense, and very dark film expecting a few cheap thrills, or "wanks," are gonna be very dissapointed, and maybe a bit frightened/disgusted. American distributors did the same thing to a German film called "Napola," advertising it as a gay film. That film is about a Hitler Youth School during the dark days of the second World war, and there is not even a trace of a gay theme in that. I guess they think we are too stupid to appreciate world Cinema, unless we are offered sex and cheap thrills. I am actually surprised that O fantasma even got an American release. But the "eye candy" section of the extras was totally unnessesary, exploitative, and an insult to a good film. It is only present in the American dvd, not surprisingly. why do so many americans have such a juvenile view of sexuality?
