what happened to the guy Sergio is obsessed about?

Did anyone understand what really happened to the swimmer guy Sergio is obsessed about in the end? has Sergio just kidnapped him or has also raped him? I thought a little bit about it and I wonder whether the guy that "rubber" Sergio has sex with in the very begining is actually that swimmer one...

Yes, it's clear that the swimmer that Sergio is obsessed with and that he confronts in the locker room of the pool is the man who, at the beginning of the film he is having sex with--that it's a rape, of course, is clear from the fact that the man's wrists are cuffed behind his back. It's confusing because the scene is placed at the beginning of the film instead of coming after the kidnapping scenes. There is another puzzling transition. We never know how Sergio gets the cuffs off of himself after the policeman put them on him--are they they same cuffs that he has used on his victim?

He just left him in the street. Knowing he would be in trouble for his kidnap was partially the cause of his whole disturbing journey as a "Phantom" at the end when he roams around the dump.

The rubber guy was a different guy.

I just saw the movie and was a bit confussed about it as well. I *thought* the guy Sergio is raping at the beggining was in fact the swimmer. However, after Sergio is handcuffed, the next scene is Sergio in the rubber suit, standing from a bed with a naked guy. Sergio leaves the room and goes to another room where the swimmer is sleeping. The thing is, in that scene, the swimmer is wearing pajamas. When Sergio kidnaps him, he's wearing them too. So it would seem that Sergio never actually raped him. Which leads to the question of who was this other guy that apparently lives in the same house as the swimmer?

Hi guys...
The guy at the beginning of the movie is not the swimmer. If you look closer you will see that he hasn't the swimmer's body. Also the bedroom is enterily different. The swimmer's bedroom has palm trees printed on the wall.
The story in the movie is chronological. There's no flashbacks or flashforwards . The guy is just an anonymous guy. I know that it's not very clear but if you think a little bit about it you may find that the guy freed Sérgio from the handcuffs, since in the openning scene they have this sex game with handcuffs. So he must have some keys...
About the swimmer... He rapes him simbolically. You may say that his desire made him impotent. So, when you get what you want you don't want it anymore. The swimmer is left behind. It's not important anymore what happens to him.
And then? Then there's nothing. So Sérgio begins his journey into nothingness.
In the end he is a ghost: "No one lives without love".

If you guys look at the cast, you'll notice that the swimmer Joao is one actor and the guy with the doberman in another actor. I also believe that the guy in the beginning is willing having sex with Sergio, because if it's master were being harmed, wouldn't that doberman have attacked Sergio once he opened the door? And his face didn't really look like it was being assualted. He looked like he was in pleasure.

Simple: the guy *beep* by Sergio at the begining is the police who handcuffed him first. Sergio found him to have his handcuff unlocked, while the police was a masochist, *beep* by Sergio with a handcuff on. Pls notice that Sergio took a bunch of keys away in the scene with the naked guy later - key to the handcuffs!

I think Sergio was just with a guy who liked being tied up and *beep* by guys in rubber. The rubber suite would have belonged to the guy who was being *beep*. When Sergio goes into the other room he is not going into the swimmers room, the movie cuts conveniently to when he does go into the swimmers room. That is, in real time there would have been a lapse of time between him leaving the rubber guys house and when he enters the swimmers but for the sake of movie time it is more convenient to just artistically cut it from one scene to the next - going out one door and entering another.

I think Sergio murdered the swimmer, he was awesome.

Yeah, I think the guy at the start was just on of Sergio's random hookups.

I think the swimmer is fine, just a little bruised - after having been dumped a 2nd story window, OUCH! Did anyone else think WTF?!
