Are they forced to build shelter on the beach?

The worst place you can put your camp is right on the beach. Storms and wind and rain and floods are just gonna pummel your ass to death. You wanna be deep in the rain forest, hunkered down, high ground. But that's not pretty TV. So i'm assuming they make these poor fools sleep on the beach?

That might be true, but there is also some sense in being on the beach, or at least right on the beach/forest line. It's much more open space to build on, and its much easier to move around on. And they probably would rather not have you building fires in a dense jungle. Then you have to consider that there's a lot more wild animals roaming in the jungle, and the bugs would be way worse.

Then from a television production stand point, it is much easier for the crew to move around and less objects to have to film around.

I've never seen anybody on this show build a sheltered fire pit either. That shit ain't hard to do. You don't have to sit there freezing in the rain you morons.

Also, you don't need the tarp on the roof when it's not raining. If it's a clear night, put the tarp underneath you so the sand fleas and ants don't eat you while you sleep. When these guys get a tarp, they just throw it up and leave it there.

I think they are given restrictions on where they can set their camps. Maybe to minimize the damage to the site.
