Crazy, unconfirmed, Probably Untrue, but still Funny Rumor.

All the way back Season 2, the Australian Outback, Kel was not actually voted out for smuggling beef jerky.

I forget where I heard this rumor (again, its probably untrue, but its funny) but what actually happened was that Kel got caught doing something else. It's well known that the contestants all change clothes in front of each other. By the end of the first day no one even gives it a second thought. However some of the younger girls on his tribe (Jerri and Amber) thought Kel was watching them a bit too much. Then shortly after, Jerri caught him masterbating. Of course everyone on the tribe was appalled and wanted him thrown out immediately. CBS and Burnett wanted to keep it a family show and they were already too far into the show to have him just up and leave, and the show was widely watched and covered at that point, so the story would get out if they didn't try to explain it. So the producers told them to come up with a different reason, and they could vote him out the next time they were at tribal council. Of course they lost the next challenge (wink, wink), and went with the smuggling food story. And as a subtle joke to the audience, Jerri went with "jerky" as the incriminating food.

Of course this story sounds ridiculous, and in likelihood not true, but the idea of it is still hilarious, and based on how much we know about "reality" shows now, we couldn't put it past anybody.
