they don't have to, the water is supplied by the show, but it still is in a non treated well out in the open so there is potential, but unlikely as long as they cover and protect the well.
show is much more about social survival than physical survival. Yes they have limited food, but with the rewards every few days, food is not an issue, water isn't an issue, balmy weather overall.
I miss the old survivor where it was just as much about physical survival as it was social!
