On wikipedia it says that In A Heartbeat got criticism for its mild language and sexual content and it was pulled because Disney wanted to restructure its image. I watched the show when it was airing and I don't really remember any language or sexual content on the show.
Yeah, I remember this show. I distinctly remembered that the two male actors (Shawn Ashmore & Christopher Ralph) from the TV series Animorphs (based on the books) were on this show. My best friend and I used to watch and talk about this show. This was back when Disney was cool.
I remember when this show was on, and I don't recall any sexual content or risque language....Unless they count the long-awaited kiss b/w Tyler and Val in the last episode or so as sexual content
There wasn't any sexual content or language at all!!!! There is a little kissing on disney- I've seen it before- Lizzie McGuire's movie- at the end!?!? I know that they showed that movie on disney cause Lizzie was a disney show. It probably didn't recieve many viewers- my dad and I liked the show alot and I wish that it was on dvd cause I would buy it in a heartbeat- hehehe!!!
I know its not sexual content but remember in the pilot when they show Jamie smoking? Maybe they thought that certain minor things like that weren't acceptable to be on Disney Channel
But In a Heartbeat was directed towards TEENS, not the younger audience. It's dumb if they took it off because of the huffing and the smoking. But they did use the word "Skank" on the show a few times.
"One of the girls also was huffing and Disney does not want to have that kind of image or association for 8-10 year olds"
Uhh, the reason shows are SUPPOSED to show this kind of content is so that way it can teach teenagers (not kids) not to do these things. Thats the whole point. If they realize what happens to you when you huff or smoke by watching a show like this, they'll be less likely to do it.
I remember watching this show! It was my fav show they had on disney..and i can't believe they cancelled after 1 season...i don't remember any sexual contents in this show..

Yeah I was 12 when I saw this episode and it literally made me freaked out to ever try huffing. It was a very effective message. Too bad Disney didn't believe so.

There was this one ep---don't remember the title---where Catie was going out with this prep who was sneaking around on her, and the squad discovered it when he got injured while making out with another girl. Disney probably counted the making out scene as sexual content. Jack drinks jack, Jack drinks jack. Jack's got fans. Catch ya on the flip side.
LOL, Life with Derek had more making out than that scene. You don't even actually see them kiss, we just see the back of her head. I actually think the kiss was screened.
Yeah, definitely. I think it had to do with time. In a Heartbeat was 2000 and Life With Derek was 2007. Alot of time passes. Same with shows like Hannah Montana. They had kissing scenes frequently. They actually showed real kisses. I think Even Stevens kissing scenes were quick.
