First of all, yes, I DO have the legal, legit Game of the Year CD of Half-Life, and this is the only glitch I have encountered yet.

I am at the end of the "Apprehension" level, right after the first encounter with the Black Ops. After being carried away by the two marines, I wake up to a dark screen - there's nothing, except for a random floor and a doorway. Whenever I try to use any controls, the only one that does anything is the flashlight. I waited for five minutes, and nothing happened.

I also looked online, and apparently I'm supposed to be in a cage-type thing, but nothing resembles that.

Is there any way I can fix/avoid this? Are there any patches that will help?

It's probably a glitch you inadvertantly activated. You should wind up in a Star Wars-esque crusher. There is probably an update for the glitch by now, but its only supported with Steam versions of the game. Your best bet would be to load your most recent save game before the ambush (let's hope you have one!), and then see if the same thing happens again.
