My favorite Movie

I doubt anyone ever looks up this movie or that anyone will ever read this post but I feel I should post it anyway!

This is one of my most favorite movies and one that is very cherished from my childhood! I did not grow up with the full, Russian version, I had a copy in English. The tape I had was from the line "Just for Kids" and they shortened the movie to around 30 minutes-ish and dubbed it in English. I do not speak Russian, so I have no idea what the original says, but I'm sure the version I had was not a 100% faithful retelling of the dialogue. My version was filled with silliness at times that I am sure were not from the original version also.

They had placed in really catchy, cheesy music from a band called "The Bullets" though and how I long to hear those cheesy songs again! LOL I still have my original VIDEO TAPE from back in those days but I won't play it for fear of ruining it.

But regardless of what my version is compaired to the original... this movie still inspired me and has been one of my biggest inspirations! I recently got to see the full, original Russian movie and I have to say, even though I do not know what's being said (which has never stopped me from liking something!) it was still a GREAT movie!

This movie is a wonderful classic and I highly suggest anyone see it. It's pure art and wonderful. I wish I could create something that is so movie and resonating to the viewer like this had been with me!

I love this movie too; I think I may have even had that same VHS! I really wish a decent full-length version with good subtitles can be made available to English-speaking viewers.

Ah! A reply! :D

I really do wish they'd release a subbed version too! That would be so cool. I'd love to know what's being said. I'm honestly tempted to just try an learn russian myself so I can watch it and appreciate it! I've found some other vids on youtube by the same people with the same awesome art style..all in russian of course. Grr makes the desire to learn Russian even more great!

Even though I usually don't like companies taking great stories and kiddy-fying them with silliness for no reason... I can't help but be thankful to the version I had! It was such a treasure to me in my youth and still is to this day! I wish that version would get released on dvd or something... I want a new copy of it! :( I swear the songs from that version will just randomly pop into my head from time to time! :D
