What did donnie do to francis?

When he shoves him off the bike and pins him on the fence, is something implied or did he just push him down. Because one of my friends insists that there is some sort of implied rape there. i don't think there is, but what did the book have to say?

If Donnie had raped Francis, I don't think the movie would be subtle about it. It would be a big deal. Even if it wasn't shown, it would be talked about.

In the book, when he has Francis pretty much at his mercy, Donnie considers for a minute what he *could* do to him, what he *ought* to do to him. I don't recall that homosexual rape is explicitly mentioned in the book as one of the possibilities that Donnie contemplates, but most readers can be relied on to supply that for themselves, I think. Finally, though, Donnie just shoves him away in disgust.

Remember, he knows the relationship with Margie wasn't *his* fault, even though he feels guilt. And notice that he doesn't tell this to Francis. Which you could interpret as Donnie trying to protect his sister, despite everything. Donnie has more depth in the book than in the movie.

You obviously haven't read the book as this scene isn't even in it.

Exactly!
