I wouldn't have been stupid like the director and cut out the scene where Francis and craig talked to each other in the gym. bad move dude, he was a big part of the book.
shareI would have stuck more closely to the book. Although Kieran did a good job, the character in the book was really small. Maybe six inches shorter than the rest of them. And he was always getting teased about it. That was part of the reason for his oversized personality I think. I would have fleshed out Francis's home life more (abusive father, mentally challenged brother). I would lose the animated sequences. I'm not sure about the whole racial thing/parade that's in the book. It's probably best that wasn't in the movie. Too much of a distraction from the main thread of the story. All in all, though I think that the movie was good and fairly true to the spirit of the book.
