Worse series

I feel that this is the worst series so far, and would go far to say that I am glad that it is finishing this week. The only decent thing that this series has had to offer is Donald McDonald...he is brill. Apart from that, not alot of interesting things have happened. I am not happy with the arrival of Isobel. It is incredibly obvious that her and Paul end up together which is incredibly predictable. There is nothing which has grabbed me at all. I have loved Monarch of the Glen since it began and feel really let down by this series. I hope the writers really think about ways to make it how it used to be. However, this will be hard as the only original cast member at the moment is Golly.

If any one disagrees, feel free to comment!

"I, Megan Bates, solemnly swear I am up to no good."

I loved this programme when it started in 2000 and I thought that the following two series were even better than the first (apart from when Katrina left the show - that kind of happened all of a sudden without much closure for the character), but after Hectror died the whole thing went completely downhill - not only had they lost the most entertaining character, but it just became a silly soap-opera with the same contrived plots for each new episode (as was brilliantly parodied by French and Saunders - each episode seemed to have Archie on the verge of losing Glenbogle until some miraculous, historical solution presented itself at the end) - I hated the whole Archie/Lexie storyline (I guess I never did get over Katrina leaving - but it was just SOOO stupid spending an entire two series getting Archie and Katrina together finally only for her to leave for some stupid job in series 3), and when Archie's half-brother or whatever turned up I stopped watching this rubbish completely. I havent watched any new episodes for about two years now, but it comes as no surprise to me that all of the original cast members have left by now with the exception of one... they really should have ended it when Hector died.

I've only been a casual viewer - there's a little part of me that occassionally likes this kind of fluff (the same part that watched 'Ballykissangel') but I have to agree that the Katrina exit was such a waste. And Lexie was portrayed as something of a jealous sleaze if I remember rightly, trying to seduce Archie while he was still with or pining for Katrina. Sure, Lex was enobled afterwards, but I never thought they were a proper match after that.

I was joking the other day that when Hector picked up the whatever it was contraption from the lake that blew him up, it must have just jumped a shark to reach him, cos that's where the show really lost it.
this series has been entertaining simply because we can look at the characters and go "oh, that's supposed to be lexie....oh, that's supposed to be hector".....it's as if they've assembled the same idea but are using shadowy leftovers of the former characters.
*however* i ended up watching the season finale tonight and i have to say i actually enjoyed it. there was humour, there was absurdity that was actually amusing for once and there seemed to be some character growth and dramatic progression without using anything as malodramatic as a death or an accident or whatever. if all the new episodes were like tonights i would have liked the series.

I. Miss. Archie!!!!
