When Emily asks Chris to Leave

When Chris shows up to a Friday Night Dinner to confront Lorelai about her and Rory not returning his calls after he decides to be with Sherry and her their child over being a family with Lor and Rory...it gets very dramatic. Lots of yelling and Rory finally gives Chris a piece of her mind. Called him out on his choices and his failed promises of being there for them. Lorelai defends her and also tries to make Chris understand his role in all of this. He was bailing and it was what it was. Certainly the Gilmore Girls have more to be upset about. Also Chris showing up like that to have such a serious conversation was uncalled for. But Emily totally steps up. Asks Chris to leave, insists upon it in her calm but firm way. She defends the girls and proves that she isn't against them despite her personal wishes for her family. We get to see her be a true matriarch. Love Emily.

I love Emily in that scene. Everytime I rewatch I wonder what Chris really wants. He's not even concerned about his daughter, it's always about Lorelai. What was Lorelai supposed to do? Have an affair with him while Sherry is pregnant? His motives are very unclear to me.

I love Emily in that scene too. Chris looked shocked that she was ordering him to leave in that refined way of hers. I think Chris maybe thought he could have it both ways when it came to Lorelai and Sherry and it doesn't work like that. Lorelai and Rory had a right to feel hurt and let down by him breaking another promise to them and he needed to accept and deal with it.

I loved this moment. It was a good to see a mother daughter moment between Lorelai and Emily.
