The Little Envelope Thingy In the Bottom Corner

When Rory calls Logan at 4:45 am in season 7 about her texts to him and he tells her he texted her back. Rory doesn't realize she got a text from Logan on her phone and says she didn't have any missed calls...and then she notices the "envelope thingy" on her phone screen. So it's like she doesn't know how to text people...in 2007. Although that garnered one of my favorite Logan lines..."You don't need your books Ace." Always thought it was funny that they have her struggling to text him...she's 22 and she was able to text Chris no problem. Guess Rory wasn't good at everything :)

I don't think that was the issue. She said something like, "It went straight into my saved messages" which can only happen if you put them in. Which means she must have opened the text up, probably accidentally and without realizing what it was. I've done it before, opened up a text without reading it, and then the notification goes away so you don't remember it at all.

Still it makes me laugh every time...the envelope thingy. And her comment about not having any missed calls. I guess she figured it out because in the revival she has three phones.

But Rory was always good with computers. I mean, it's sort of strange not to be if you are her age. I remember a few times that they hinted at this, like Lorelai once asked her to show her how to download music because there's so much out there; and another time it was about her cleaning out her hard drive and she was talking about files and stuff, and Lorelai didn't understand a word of it. Then there was the time she pointed out to her boss at the internship that they could just use an application that would determine if a certain author had written a piece of work or not.

The scene you're referring to was adorable, but I didn't think it was to say Rory was bad with technology. Logan was obviously better, since it was his line of work.

Yeah I know I'm just being silly. Rory always seemed like she was great with computers. It did seem like in general they waited a while/almost too long to introduce texting to them. We don't hear about them doing it until 2007. Same with emailing. We don't hear about them emailing until 2004. Googling 2004. They did always have cellphones, and were calling each other constantly on their cell phones. Interesting.

Well, that is, they used cellphones a lot after graduating from their pagers. Jason was still using one in 2003, had to ask to use Richard's phone to return a call.

Yeah I remember one time Lorelai telling Rory to call her on her cell or at Jason's. Meaning call Jason's landline. Also Luke doesn't get a cellphone until he and Lorelai start dating. All of his messages he leaves on the answering machine at her house telling her he got one and then he remembers to include the number. Ah Luke. Dean didn't get a cellphone until after marrying Lindsay.

Was she using the Sidekick in that ep, or did she still have the flip phone?
