on the Xenogears anime. It was a movie or OVA, took place during the zeboim era. It wasn't very popular and was never released outside of Japan. There was a website that had screen caps and a synopsis, but its been more than 8 years since I've last seen that site. Other than that, I know nothing about it.
shareI've been a fairly dedicated Xenogears fan since it was first released in early 1998, and I've never heard of this. It sounds to me like once upon a time you saw some screen caps of the visuals of the Zeboim era that show up if you inspect a certain console in the TV station under the Lighthouse and got a wrong impression. I'm pretty sure there was never any Xenogears anime.
shareWell, I've personally heard this rumor before...however, I heard the quality isn't too good and it was rare to find, even in Japan. Heck, it might not even be true at all....we will never know....

I'm almost positive it existed at one time, but it seems we'll just have to let this one go. It sounded to me like Square was embarassed and kept the movie from seeing a wide release. Oh well, maybe it will turn up one day...

That's probably the hardest of the hardcore Xenogears fan sites, outside of Japan at least. If anyone would know about it, they would. And if they tell you it doesn't exist, you can take their word for it; they would know.
Look for "Xenogears: Perfect Works", it's an entire book devoted to xenogears that has all original artwork and such. Never heard of an anime, probably just a rumour, or selected FMVs from the actual game. They had a lot of stuff that was going to be put into the game but never was due to Square-soft cutting the budget to make FF8...goddamn shame.

There was an anime of like 20 episodes of Xenosaga episode 1, but not Xenogears, probably you misunderstood the information.

The Xenosaga anime sucked. Changed so many things from the game's story to the point it was unrecognizable. The animation quality was horrible, sound effects ditto, unworthy of the Xeno name.
shareWhen I was younger, and visiting Asia with my brother, my brother told me there was a BRIEF anime series based on Xenogears. It was on the (Action channel/network).
He said it sucked so they cancelled it. I never really checked it out because, at the time, I liked videogames better than anime. In fact, I wasn't too into anime at all to actually wait around until it was on :P.
