I read that Xenogears was influenced or inspired by this book. Anyone read it? I only heard the Audiobook and I can see why, the novel itself might be better than the Audiobook but I enjoyed it very much and the ending was sad!

The character Krelian's name is a corrupted mis-translation of Karellen. That's the only solid connection I'm aware of. Though now that I think about it, I suppose the whole thingy about all of humanity being absorbed into Deus is a similar plot point.
