Lestat / Akasha Sex scene song question.

For the sex scene in the bath, they're playing Change (in the house of flies) by Deftones. During the full song one of the lyrics goes:

I look at the cross, then I look away

In the old school Dracula / vampire films vampires were afraid of crosses and don't like being close to them or staring at them.

Was this purely a coincidental form of lyricism or did the composers decide to add it in for some subliminal vampiric message / homage? Because they don't play the whole song and you don't hear those particular lyrics in the actual film since they quickly cut the song / scene off.

If it was a coincidence...way to go, regardless. great song.

Maybe it was a nod to the books where there is alot of religious overtones, well more than just overtones.

I think that was a happy mistake honestly, but a good catch.

I would say coincidence since I think it was mentioned in the movie Interview as the cross thing being a myth. I think it was Louie explaining it to the interviewer that crosses had no effect and im fact he was actually quite fond of them.
