Great adaption of The Gift of the Magi

I think this movie's adaption of The Gift of the Magi is even better than the original!

Before you ask, yes, I have read the original story.

Why do I think version of the story is better?

That's because the objects sacrificed in the original were the man's watch and the woman's hair, while in this version, the objects sacrified are Mickey's harmonica and Minnie's watch.

Surely you know that hair grows back, whereas watches don't. So in the original story, the woman more likely be able to use her gift (a set of combs) sooner that the man can use his (a watch chain).

Neither watches nor harmonicas grow back. That way, Mickey and Minnie are equally unlikely to be able to use their presents (a watch chain and a harmonica case).

The man and woman get more equal treatment in this story than in the original story. That, to me, makes it much better.

Ha, I see the point about hair growing back. xD I do love this version, as well as the Bert & Ernie one from Sesame Street (Ernie sells his beloved rubber duckie and gets a soap dish for him, while Bert sells his cherished paper clip collection and gets a storage box for it. Fortunately the guy at the shop who made those trades gives back the duck and the paper clips as his gifts to them! D'aww!) OH, and of course The Honeymooners' version, too!!
