Anyone think they were right?

Emotions are and and lead only to irrational behaviour.

Look at history where rational behaviour led too

Emotions can lead to irrational or illogical behavior, but people that are without emotion and compassion can also lead down some dark paths. If you had to choose, the latter would lead to an organized world and would probably be best for most people, the former can lead to people like Hitler, but a fair amount of people may be happier overall.

In an ideal world a person would be logical while having some ability to empathize with things.

The problem is, no one cares to DEFINE 'emotions'.

In my viewpoint, there are so many ways human beings experience existence and the Universe, that just saying 'emotions' is not enough.

There are at least;

- Psychological experience
- Spiritual experience
- Physical experience
- Mental experience

So when you physically touch and feel something, it's not 100% physical, there's a spiritual feel behind it all, that you can feel even when you are not in your body (think about dreams, where you feel 'physical things', but it goes even further than that).

Body can't feel anything, when you are not connected/attached/in it. A dead body doesn't become more dead or feel any pain if you shoot it. So there's no such thing as 'physical feel', when you think about it.

In my opinion, emotions and ego are tied together. Emotions are all the 'difficult' and 'dangerous' feelings that can lead to trouble and bring you down.

I wouldn't consider the euphoria you get when meditating, an 'emotion', for example. Also, when you do a good deed, the feeling you get is not really 'emotion'.

But when you beat someone in a video game, THAT feel is an emotion, as it ties with ego.

Anger, lust, fear, hatred, shock, envy, guilt, etc. are emotions. They're things we often automatically react with, although it's possible to discard such a reaction style and learn a more elevated way.

You can also feel 'energy' inside of you in many ways - anyone that has practiced Tai Chi or QiGong knows this. That's also not an emotion.

I don't think joy is an emotion, especially if you get it from a pure source. It's a permanent spiritual quality or ability, rather than one-incarnation-based ego-entanglement that only exists for your spiritual growth and karma.

So I guess emotions are more the things that spirit is MADE to feel by physical-etheric or even the astral body due to the 'personality' that we wear like a suit, which changes for every individual incarnation.

And what spirit can naturally always feel (unless temporarily blocked), are more 'spiritual feeling' types.

Compassion can be felt without ego, and -maybe- justified anger can also (after all, the Cosmic Messenger allegedly became very angry, when he saw money changers in his father's home), but basically, I would say that compassion is not an emotion, but it comes from somewhere deeper.

I guess what I am trying to explain, that emotions are more superficial and temporary, and can eventually be overcome, whereas natural spiritual feeling is more real and eternal, and is always there, as it is deep and comes from your most real and true self.

That's why putting all this under one label is a bit misleading and dangerous, and I would say, ignorant.

Sociopaths don't only lack emotions, they also lack the ability to access their natural spirit's feeling, so they're basically numb to the whole concept of 'feeling' anything other than the physical stuff (being tired, hungry, in pain, etc).

If you just remove emotions, but have all the other feel.. well, I think there IS some truth that the world would be much closer to paradise (without greed, lust, etc., for example). However, emotions are necessary for the spirit to grow, and for karmic purposes, therefore, such a world would be in a pause mode, halted, no progress, etc.

So in the long run, it wouldn't be good.
