Masterpiece

This movie was something of a visual masterpiece, overwhelming, electrifying. You think it's just a movie but then it becomes more... and more.
Mr. Danny Huston, I take a bow.

reply

Agreed.
One of my favourite films, a fine actor.

God, I need to see this. They need to release this on DVD in the States like crazy.

"Do I have an original thought in my head?"

reply

Its on DVD now, I work at blockbuster and I have seen it on the new release wall, and i am very suprised the film originally came out almost ten years ago...weird.

An overwhelming, trance-like, strikingly-beautiful, immaculately crafted, visually visceral, meteoric masterpiece indeed, and it's light years better than the novella.

Peace, peace! He is not dead, he doth not sleep,
He hath awakened from the dream of life.
'Tis we, who lost in stormy visions, keep with phantoms an unprofitable strife... [Shelley, redacted]

Danny Huston hypnotically and epicureanously and rapturously and splenitively and terrifyingly personified social pathology incarnate. I give him an Oscar.

Like Mike Figgis, Bernard Rose not only proved once again how powerful high-definition digital camerawork can be, but his striking visual palette progressively intensified and burgeoned into a multi-layered transfigurative and transcendent experience.

Ivansxtc eclipsed Tolstoy's novella, as did Rose's adaptation of The Kreutzer Sonata.
