Italian Soldiers

From your name I would assume you are of Arab descent. ( Turkish, maybe? ) If you are, you, yourself should know, that movies never show what really happened and how it happened. Movies always oversimplify actual events. Movies always project prejudice. Movies always contain a great deal of fiction and assumption.

Italy was in poor shape to fight industrialized wars given that they had little infrastructure to support it. Along with it came the late unification in the 19th century. While germany unified even later most German states were highly educated and industrialized and with more than 66% territory, population and economy Prussia was the dominant power behind it.

This is the reason Italy performed poorly in WW1 and got massacred any time they faced another major European power. Even the operation against Greece overstretched their capabilities. The disarmament by German Wehrmacht units was pursued by germany precisely because the Italian troops were at this point in time so vulnerable, they didn't want to wait for them to make up their minds and decide to kill Germans.

Bottomline is that a ww2 movie however in-/accurate portrays how the Italians performed in WW2 ( which might have been brave but primarily out of their league ), not how Italy is today which is pretty much up there in standard with any NATO country.

Also many Italian soldiers were I welcomed home or even killed by those who felt that Italian had anything to do or believe w Hitler and superior race.
