I saw this series on Australian TV on SBS in the late 1980s and loved it. I would like to get it on DVD

me too,cant believe they never repeated it,good book as well that went with the series

Many of the episodes are up on youtube.com right now.

It would be nice to have an affordable DVD collection of the bunch, but who knows if BBC even still has them archived.
For a long time their policy was to erase and reuse the tape masters of anything deemed unprofitable.

I think it was on Channel 4 rather than BBC, though I could be wrong.
