Jerry's last line

What does it mean when he says "She said it!" at the end? Who said what?

reply

I think he means that the little girl said that the Wizard would meet her at the park. He couldn't figure out why the Wizard never showed. It drove him nuts thinking about it.
IMO, it turns out that God took revenge on the Wizard, and left poor Jerry to think he'd gone insane. But, Jerry knows deep down that he's not insane. This is why he adamantly says: "She said it". He KNOWS she said it, and the Wizard should have showed.

He couldn't figure out why the Wizard never showed?? It was a tiny town, surely he'd have heard about the dude who burned to death in the fatal car accident! He probably even passed the accident site on his way home! Doesn't hold water.

there could be a few reasons he didn't connect it. one, he's aging, and was about to retire before all this happened, so he's probably not as sharp as he used to be in his prime. two, he's so distraught that his hunch was wrong, and lost the company of his only loved ones because he was wrong. that could have clouded his judgement. maybe he didn't talk to anyone or watch tv, etc for months. he's not going to run down to the morgue with a new hunch that the wizard must have coincidentally died on that same day in some "accident". just like we saw him at the end rocking on that chair mumbling, "she said it", he probably just disconnected from the world. so, yeah, it holds water; it's just an extenuating set of circumstances.

He actually wasn't wrong. He was completely right but fate intervened.
